Just ordered a reverse light switch in. 27 bucks on ebay.

Found this dodgy twist & insulation tape joint previous owner did for the existing 7” screen head unit, which I’ve removed.

I will put this back properly into GPvR. Mad looking head unit but not my cup of tea.

Solder & heat shrink tubing joint. Now I have a proper factory head unit plug that plugs straight into the head unit plug.

And I found this earth (black) cable? looks like they are coming from the AC unit… but can anyone tell me what this cable is?
I remember seeing a black and green cable like this coming straight out the AC unit of classic mini I restored.

Now I got to figure out what to do with the MIVEC not kicking in.. please see other thread dedicated for this problem. (with video)

I will check out my GPvR in the shop tomorrow. I had a dream where the engine was in the car and it was majestic! Lol

The black one looks like the stereo ground as its not included in the loom plug im pretty sure.

The Green could be for the handbrake light switch or the wire that connects to your old headunit handbrake safety switch.

ok the black stereo ground cable makes sense..

Granted, this car did have 7" screen HU on it but I've removed it (along with associated cable).

but why is this green cable coming out from the car? (unless the green cable isn't stock)

They both look great. Fantastic effort on your part. What are you going to do now..... Which one is being kept?.

Been asking myself that question 10times everyday haha..

I think ill keep the GPX (wish I found this ealier than my vR) as its newer year, lower km, more features & options, dual airbag.. etc..

GPX still needs bits fixed /serviced etc though.. plus I'll transfer some parts over from the vR like the spolier etc.

GPvR will be on the market soon!

Id be keeping the VR myself. Climate control doesnt really add anything, I guess the passengers airbag does, but the VR now has a new engine, superior suspension and will always have a better resale value. You can chuck some of the VR stuff into the GPX, but it wont make it a VR and itll make the VR harder to sell.

    Just sayin....

Yup that's cool D, yeah.. resale value for GPX don't matter as I wont be selling this, and im happy to lose some money when I resell the vR.
GPX means more to me as my first car also was a GPX & the whole point of this journey was to "get my first car back from 17years ago".

Logic says to keep vR but my heart says GPX!

Plus I actually don't want the auto climate control.. lol

And hows the suspension different? If vR is more harder and sports oriented I might pass on it.. suspension to me is only as good as I can tolerate the hardness!

Was I right in saying the vR suspension is harder and sports oriented though??

It's a better setup not harder, it's just a better design and better thicker components like the subframe
