Best way to remove window tint without damaging demister

I've asked about this on my build thread but doesnt seem like its getting enough exposure so here it goes again!
What would be the safest way to remove rear windscreen without damaging 20 years old demister?
Would heat be enough to get it off? Mighty Car Mods have a video online but the car they DEMOed is newer car..
If there is chemical of such in the market would be ideal..
