Hi everyone,
Good day to all of you!!

REcently I just got myself a halfcut gearbox.
F5M422V7A6--XV7052

Can someone please confirm that it has a LSD inside? If yes, what kind of LSD is that?
Anyway, the LSD will last for forever or it will eventually worn out and cannot be used anymore?

Thanks!!

Yes, LSD. Not sure which type.

The viscous type will wear over time. The helical type as far as I know should last forever. Seeing as yours is from a post '97 car, I think it should be the helical type.

Trying to remember what Tim said about the diffs. Pretty sure it's the viscous that has the 25 spline shafts...

Done 3 wheelspins on a wet surface.
I felt that the right wheel spins a lot while the left one didn't.

Is that normal for a Helical LSD?

I had the helical LSD in my car and though it was better than not having it in the end it always felt like it should be doing more.
At times I remember thinking to myself "does this even have an LSD?".

If you get something like a wavetrac LSD it should work really well unless there is a zero traction condition on one wheel. Wavetrac claim it still works but this isn't true (you can get youtube videos of this being tested with one wheel on ice and the LSD just acts as an open diff).

The OEM unit is pretty sedate overall.
If you are not sure if you have an LSD you can jack the front of the car up and hand spin one of the wheels. The other should rotate in the same direction. If you put it in gear and it rotates the opposite direction then there is no LSD

Wrong, this doesn't work for helical LSDs, wheels spin opposite directions.

Sure way to tell is to remove a shaft and see if there is a bar going across inside the diff. If it doesn't its an LSD.
