Well hold on a minute he told me he'd pulled the cups out of the box, I had a look and :facepalm2:
He's just pulled the shaft out of the inner ripping the perfectly good boot and leaving the inner still firmly in the feckin box.

We have a manual box sitting on a pallet that already has inners, he's pulled one of them out and it actually came out easy, it's a 27 spline, box is a F5M422V7A3. (he's doing a manual conversion)
We have this tip box all now unbolted and ready to come out except it's still got inner cups in.

Can we just drop the box with the inners still in (will it come out or foul?), then when we are ready to put the manual in use his shafts that came out of the tip and the inners that came with the manual box as I already know the splines are going to be ok anyway or may I have a length issue?
I guess we should pull the other inner and reassemble the shafts and inners (clean out, re-pack and new boot on) while they off the car. (is this as easy as it sounds?)

Your avatar says you are a mechanic? Not sure why a mechanic would need advice on such simple tasks??

As far as I know it's an automatic thing just based on how many posts you've done I think, or what Ben has changed it to (presuming that's what he's done for Sahin).

I'm not a mechanic, or an apprentice anything (like yours says) and haven't worked on the drivetrain much. Removing intake plenums - sure, done that hundreds of times, Removing driveshafts and rebuilding inner cv's etc - nope, only removed once before about 10 years ago and my Dad was around and did most of it to be honest (he used to be a mechanic).

EDIT:Box is out, inners still in place.
Engine next (tomorrow maybe)

I couldn't get box out without removing the cups. Get a pet bar of or a large svrewdrive with square neck. Put a spanner to the neck and twist the bar with spanner. Pops right out and easy!

Thanks that sounds like a good tip.

Box and engine are both out now, dropped the box and lifted the engine out the top, we had the chassis high up on axle stands to get the box out :)
