Didn't know you had twin TD05's

So I did some research, and yep, I'll probably get an aftermarket intercooler so I don't have to mess around with changing piping later down the line. It'll also reduce fuel economy, which is something I'll really need to work towards haha

Had a read through this article, and yep the stock intercooler is pretty sh*t

I'm most likely going to go with a Mishimoto M-Line intercooler. They're tube/fin cores, not bar and plate, but they still have a really good build quality, and are reasonably priced; being able to get one for ~$400 shipped. They also come with a lifetime warranty. Its made of 6061 ally, with dimensions: 600x300x76mm which should fit well, hopefully still retaining stock secondary fans.

(The stock legnum intercooler is 501x296x65)

Still deciding on colour; silver vs. black

Theres quite a fair amount of room inside the bumper. Decided to go with a black mishimoto intercooler with the white 'M'

When I do it it'll be black. Less attention from cops is always better

Oh & you might want to do some proactive maintenance on the turbos & put a reco kit through them. They're not ball bearing, just brass bushed, and they can pop. I popped both a front and rear. Ended up buying a brand new pair.

Did you find a new pair that didn't cost an arm and a leg, or did you trade some limbs? And where from?

Found a brand new set on eBay in Japan for $495  Dusty box, with original Mitsi logos on them.

Yeah i've looked into getting them rebuilt. Have you rebuilt yours before though? I can't seem to find a kit for the TD03-7t.. not sure if any TD03 kit off eBay will be suitable

Just a quick update.. Been having some seriously stupid electrical issues with the 6a12 (Wanted to sort this out before putting the 6a13tt in, to eliminate any possible issues in the future).

Before I started this build, I was overseas for about a month. A few weeks before I left Perth, my alternator died, and discharged the battery; dropping it almost to nothing. Luckily the Optima D34 is a pretty stable battery and was able to be recovered back to 12.5V. I have since changed the alternator 3 times - buying a remanufactured one off eBay, which after testing was assumed to be faulty. I thus got a replacement which didn't work either. I then tried the 6a13tt alternator, and still, the alternator did not want to charge the battery. The battery logo does not show up on the dash and only appears for a split second when the car is turned on. I changed all the dash lights in case that was effecting the alternators performance, yet that didn't fix anything. I've also tested the alternator wires, as well as cleaned up all the grounds, and still couldn't solve the issue. Another alternator fuse and relay was tested too, with no luck of fixing the problem.

All 3 alternators did show a sign that they worked, initially showing ~14V for a few minutes, but then died altogether. I will test a trustworthy / working FTO alternator tomorrow, which will help diagnose this issue. If the alternator works, I'll have to purchase a new one from another source, since I now don't trust the UK remanufactured ones. If the alternator doesn't work, I guess it leaves me thinking that something in the ECU has been buggered when the first alternator died and I was running the car on a voltage < 12V.

This issue has delayed my build quite a bit  , but once this is sorted out, everything else should flow fairly smoothly

This might sound dumb, but to cover all bases, have you replaced the battery to see what that does?

Put that 6a13 in then see if it works or not, why bother diagnosing on a loom and ecu you won't be using.

Yep I was testing another battery while mine was getting recharged.

I'd rather fix these issues now, because I also have to do my battery relocation, and it'll be much harder trying to diagnose these issues with a foreign engine. I also need my 6a12 running properly for the last time to get a wheel alignment and bed in my new rear brakes before the 6a13tt starts up.

Turns out I've got 4 dead alternators in my garage. Can't believe BOTH the remanufactuted alternators from the UK were faulty. So i've basically had 5 alternators in this car in the past 2 weeks.. So over it

Ordered a brand new 6a13tt alternator off eBay, so hopefully I won't have any dramas with that. Just have to wait a week for it to arrive -_-
Going to do some small bits and pieces in the meantime while I wait for it; Alpine Type R tweeter install, change the climate control bulbs and start on the battery relocation.

Thennnn I'll finallyy get onto the real build! :D
