Suggestion for next meeting
This is a great website for all FTO owners. Thanks to all members.
As a new member (feeling very proud) of this website, unfortunately I had to skip last sunday's meeting, due to lack of timing.
My suggestion is that; as our cars are mostly over 100k or juts about to be, major services are one of the most imported factors of the health of the cars (and it is bloody expensive). So why dont we organise our next meeting in a suitable garage or place, and major service an FTO. This way we can all further share our knowledge, take notes and visually understand whats going on. Imagine how efficient this would be financially.
Below is the major service list for an FTO;
Lubrication (Check / Replace / Clean)
Engine oil & filter
Battery terminals
Drive line oil levels
Tyre Pressure
Radiator coolant
Power Steering, brake, clutch, washer fluid
Door water drain holes
Transmission oil levels
Engine Bay (Check)
Brake/clutch master cylinder
Steering
External drive belts
Battery
Engine coolant level
Brake, fuel, power steering and other pipe work
Transmission oil
Radiator hoses
Washer bottle
Under Body (Check)
Steering linkage inc. seals & boots
Suspension ball joints and dust covers
Suspension system
Tyre wear inc. alignment
Brake, fuel, power steering and other pipe work
Exhaust pipe system and linkage
Engine Tuning
Adjust Valve clearance
Renew Spark plugs
Check Vacuum advance & External drive belts
Brake (Check/Replace)
Pads and brake disks
Road Test & Chassis
Operation of equipment
Engine Performance
Gearshift and drive line performance
Service and handbrake performance
Suspension
Air Conditioning (Check)
Performance
Ensure evaporator drain hose is not blocked
Clear dirt/debris from condenser
I am sure we can do most of this while having fun, bbq and other stuff.
