Alternator Questions

Hi everyone,

MIVEC stopped engaging in my car yesterday.

I did an error code check and the ECU has 64 Alternator FR Terminal stored.

From this thread it seems I can run a couple of tests to pinpoint the issue:

Can someone tell me:
1. Can the alternator be rebuilt
2. If not, are there any high quality aftermarket alternators available
3. Is the alternator removed from the bottom, and does anything need to come out to get

According to this video the driveshaft needs to be removed from the hub and engine lifted to get the alternator out:

Does anyone know if there is a better way to do this?

The driveshaft does not need removal or engine lifting.
