Actually, auto and manual LSD are the same. Only difference is between the viscous and helical.

Verison R are helical not viscous, yes the final drive gear is different, even for the manual viscous and helical they use different final drive gears.

I've been researching diffs and final drives for the past few months now. lol

So do we know if the viscous lsd from 4speed auto should fit in a 5speed auto - just get the crown gear changed (and source them from???) and then get 25 spline inner cups that have the longer splines on?

I don't know much about gearboxes and diffs, just trying to find out what bits I need to get and then take the box, lsd and bits to a gearbox shop for them to sort out.

From auto to auto you might be ok, but that final drive from the auto wont bolt onto a manual diff or vice versa. Different stud pattern & centre bore. Auto final drive wont even fit into a manual case, it's too big.

I've done the odd bit of research of boxes & diffs as well Vectec. 'lol'

Just be wary of changing the final drives if they're a different ratio, you'll need to get a tooth count off the final drive gear on the output shaft as well as a cog count on the diff gear.

Ok, so if that ASA extract is to be believed, you can swap like for like (PFL with PFL, FL with FL) but go back to the original question. Can a 4 speed auto PFL viscous, fit an auto FL 5 speed with open diff.

What's the part number for a 5spd auto final drive gear with open diff? Is it the same as a 5spd auto helical final drive gear? If so, will that final drive bolt to the 4 speed viscous? The answer is most likely going to be no.

Just a random bit of information, ASA will not install on Server 2016, has compatibility issues with the HASP driver lol.

Crown gears from Autos 4 speed and 5 speed all say part spec N=62, Manuals that I've found so far say N=69 - wonder if this is number of teeth?

MD735332 - LSD from 4 speed auto
MD757593 - crown gear part spec N=62
MD757594 - crown gear part spec N=62 - from a GPX auto no lsd.
MD757190 - crown gear part spec N=63 - from a GR auto, didn't expect them to be different.
MD748012 - crown gear part spec N=69 - from a GPX manual 1995

MD770978 - LSD from 5 speed auto
MD760946 - crown gear part spec N=62
(MD760946 - GPVR Auto 1997 (DE3A-0201510) HYFH3, part spec N=62)
So it seems that 1997 auto diffs are interchangeable between GPX and GPVR, my crown gear will fit on a 5 speed LSD (I think) but maybe not on the 4 speed LSD since it's a different part number it could be different bolt pattern or something, or size.

Still working stuff out, well trying to make sense of it.

Just counted teeth on those viscous crown gears in Bennoz pics and both 69 Teeth (these are diff crown gears right?)
Is the right one definitely out of an Auto as i'm only seeing 62 teeth on the Autos in ASA?

The crown gears for Autos that I've identified so far are 62 Teeth if Part Spec N=62 is correct, manuals seem to be 69.
Also looks like some Mitsis had the same LSD as the 4speed Auto MD735332 (or the option of), C53A, C63A, C73A, C83A and a few more, lancers?
Not sure if that really helps me though as I need one for my 5 speed unless I can make this 4 speed lsd work, or get driveshafts to match those other Mitsis that share the same lsd.

I've got a helical LSD in my GPVR 5 speed auto gearbox, the car has 73000km? I'll be switching it over to manual in the coming months so maybe I can sort out a deal with you if you still need it!

Yeah, I meant the box. I'm not going through the effort of opening the box.

Yeah that would of course work as long as the inner cv's are the same as mine otherwise i'd be needing those too.
Keep me in mind when you do your manual conversion, if you do me a great deal you'll feel really good about yourself and forever be happy!

And I can drive up to get it too, Joondalup aint that far.
