Stepper Motor Compatibility

Post by minh »

Today my mates 97 model GPX had the idle problem. We took a 1999 model non mivec 2 litre V6 Stepper motor and put it in his GPX and it worked beautifully. It looked totally different but perfect fit. So just letting you guys know that you can use a non mivec stepper motor on a mivec motor.

yes the stepper in both the GR and GPX are the same. Heard its the same in other mitsubishis as well.

One stepper wouldnt happen to be brown, the other black?

if so there are several updates to the stepper motor so to speak.

Yep spot on!....

The GPX one was a ugly brown. The NOn Mivec 1999 model one was a nice modern looking black one. Perfect fit and perfect start and idle.

Sweet as. :)

Oh BTW.
Before I put the stepper motor back on I cleaned the Throttle Body with carbie cleaner and the section where the Stepper motor goes into with carbie cleaner. Kept spraying until the carbie cleaner dripped out clear.

Yep I know what you mean about the slight high idle. Its been two days and the car idles about 1000rpm when warm. Its coming down slowly and did a rough idle hunt once.

So It takes about a week huh? cool.

How much did you pick up the magna Stepper motor for if you dont mind me asking? Thanks.
