FTO 6A13TT Simplified

So you want a hairdryer on your FTO? Or do you already have a hairdryer in it? This is the section for it. All other big power projects & forced induction goes here too.

FTO 6A13TT Simplified

Post by RobinGy »

Hi Guys,
I am planning to put a 6A13TT into my FTO, replacing the mivec 2.0.
After reading various threads (that meander somewhat) I think I have the steps down to basics.
any other advice welcome.

Tasks
remove old engine
Change Fuel pump to walbro 255hi-pressure
move Brake junction to driver side chassis rail the other option is on the firewall on the gearbox side, near the Heater core piping
Relocate battery to boot
offer engine and modify dump pipe to bend around steering
The power steering hose also had to be made, being redirected under the car following the rail instead of the upper side of the intake manifold
6mm plate was used as a spacer on the engine mount side as well as on the gearbox side and cross-member to lower the engine for clearance.
Use exhaust wrap to wrap up the front and rear manifolds as well as the gear selector cables (individually)
Mount two 12" slimline Mishimoto fans onto the radiator
Mount new fuel filter
re-offer engine
fto tranny onto engine
change ecu
Check engine mounts
final engine fit
mount intercooler
inter-cooler piping
exhaust shop for any modification

got off to a flyer, everything lines up, except....yeah, the rear dump is tight up on the steering column. will have to take that off cut and weld in a different angle.
odd thing is I did not have to move the brake junction box or anything else, power steering lines were easy enough to deal with.

will update when I get past this snag.

Seconded. Might have a bees dick of clearance, but it'd also be right behind the rear turbine housing, not great for engine movement or heat.
