Overheating issue

Post by erfdan »

Hey

So recently one of my coolant pipes just exploded randomly from 10 minutes of driving. I assume it was from old age and rust so I went and got that fixed. But now I am running with the issue where the car is overheating when I start driving for a while or driving at highway speeds for a few minutes. It will cool down to normal temperature when it starts to idle or I'm not accelerating. I'm just not too sure what the issue and the mechanic isn't too sure either.

Would anyone have any ideas? And if this is common with ftos by any chances?

Thanks, I appreciate any help.

How long has it been since it has seen a new water pump? Could be cavitation in the pump, especially if the system has a lot of corrosion.

Oh, ok thanks I'll mention a potential radiator issue and water pump issue to the mechanic to see if he can look into it.
Also   I have a veilside front bumper.
Thanks for the help so far :D
Hoping it's nothing big

The reason I ask about the bar is critical as the veil side limits airflow to one spot, which is the mouth.

If you have a number plate mounted on the mesh it can over heat the car.

I had it there and it overheated my car on the highway so I had to move it to the side, alternatively some people mount it to the main section in the middle.

So i got the water pump replaced and the car still overheats :(
Anyone else have any common ideas or should be next step be to look into a radiator. I might just go to a more specialised mechanic because my usual one wasnt sure what the problem was.

Thanks

Have you had the radiator checked? Get a leak down test done as well.

Yeah I'm going to go to another mechanic for a second opinion 😂. I don't want to lose my fto nor spend a couple thousand on it though.

Where are you located? Most mechanics don't know anything about these cars and don't want to work on them.

Yeah true I guess. I'm in castle hill, Sydney. Do you have any mechanic recommendations by any chance?
Thanks
