Anyone can help identify this issue?

Post by FTored »

Hello,

Really old member who i have not been active for ages! I own a 1998 GX since 2003, which in the last 10 years have not seen much of use! And last 4 years almost nothing!
I start it from time to time, but about a year ago, it was loosing power when trying to accelarte. It felt ike a fuel pump/injector problem. You could listen that something was off and that the car was trying to acelarte and pickup revs but it could not. I took it to mechanic, took ages to work on it, changed fuel pump and cleaned fuel tank as the petrol was really old in it. The problem persisted and then he was saying it is a fuel injector thing and they need cleaning/replacing. He supposedly cleaned it but the problem remained the same. Then it evolved to this eird knocking noise a t times, which makes the car shake. I post 2 videos for you entertainmnent. Someitmes it quitens up sometimes it is really loud!
Hopefully is something that can be fixed but i am not holding my breath!

Also when i opened and smelled the oil cap, it smelled strongly of petrol. I always had the feeling that the car was overfueling! Mabe this created a problem? Stuck injector or something that created the issue?
