Winter is here and I have have decided to replace my leaky heater core
I've taken the dash out and removed the actual heater core unit enough to access the heater matrix (without ac degas) The problem I'm having is removing the heater matrix from the heater core. The heater core plastic goes over the top of the heater matrix next to the two pipes and I can not slide it out (The plastic covers the flat part on the top of the matrix next to the pipes, so there's only space for the pipes to stick out) I tried taking apart the core but I could not split it open.
Does anyone know how to take it out? any advice is appreciated The only thing I can see is to notch out that plastic part that goes over the matrix and gluing/ plastic weld it back after replacing.
I have the mechanical ac controller (without the screen) if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance
