Formerly known as VIPFTO's turbo ride, i would like to present Shirley.
Nothing like doing two FTO's back to back.
This one is getting roof rust repair and respray. Spare engine rebuild and swap.
Greddy is going in the bin and replaced with a Haltech.
Already put my carbon gauge cluster in and attacked some wiring issues.
Gonna be a long haul.

Snoor2 is getting a Lexus Titanium silver finish.
Shirley is getting the stock pyrenees black.

Keen to see the car that lured me into turbos revived!

Spent some time on the wiring and sorted a heap of issues.
Replaced indicator/wiper stalks.
Still only part way in that respect. But pretty much sorts everything on drivers side.

Replaced aluminium/white gauge cluster with a carbon unit.
Much classier.

All looking great

Not sure if this has been covered, but did Lawso keep the rear spoiler?

Did not. ended up selling it. sh*t me that the carbon fiber was painted over.

also didn't help that i had multiple changes of mind with what car i was keeping and selling etc etc.

Fixed some sh*t wiring, found some sh*t wiring.
Stepper motor up against the turbo manifold is some good gold.

Dash out to inspect rest of the wiring and replace heater hose connectors.
Pretty much chased up all the dodgy wiring.
Tidied up the Greddy ECU harness just because it was a potential broken wire away from doom.
Get a Haltech into it soon.
Clutch pedal box was loose, and will swap out shifter cables anyway after i heat wrap them.

Ugh, dash out times. Wonder if a fire sleeve would be better for the shifter cables, less wrapping and bunching.

Fire sleeve is sub 300 celsius.
They are very close to the turbo exhaust and because i am a turbo newb i am not sure if that would be enough.

Hmm, maybe not then. I remember the radiant heat temps when idling to be roughly 100 to 200ish degrees depending on how far down the exhaust you went. Very much likely to be considerably higher when actually driving.

Pics are just initial cut back.
Took the paint much further back either side.
Removed the rust with a flapper disc and then hit with an acid based rust remover.
Let that soak for a while and then worked it with a heavy steel wheel on a grinder. Need to repeat this process several times to really nail the rust.
Removing the rust on the inner brace bar needs a wire wheel on a drill, grinder wheel will grab the brace and pull it out of shape and scare the sh*t out of you. Be sure to acid the brace as well and repeat etc.
Once i was happy the rust was neutralised i mixed some 2k primer and brushed it on inside and out, several coats.
Once that cured inside, gave it a quick sand and layed up a reasonably thick piece of fibreglass on the inside.
Have since coated the inside with some mildly reduced body deadener.
Just gotta chase up a strong flexible adhesive for the brace and tack weld the sides of the brace back in, then repeat entire process on the rear.
Will know within a couple of months if it is all a success.
