Sub+Amp(+wiring) Q's

Post by mrStumpy »

As ppl know from my previous post, Im pretty clueless when it comes to ICE.

Setup:

Head unit: Pioneer cd/mp3 DEH-P3550MP
Amp: Weconic 4475 max 800w 4 channel 4x75wrms (2x20AMP fuses) (+ground loop isolator)
Sub: JBL "10 (buildt sealed chanber)
A pair 6x9" sony xplodes 3way
A pair 6" audio boss split speakers with tweeters (+infinity crossovers).

Questions:
1) Would my Amp be able to handle two JBL "10, and if it could should they be wired one to left and the other to right at the rear wiring points of the Amp?
2)what would be the best wiring for my speakers and sub(if it makes any differance at all)?
3)what does bridging mean?
4)Can I use my subs unsealed. Eg mount them facing the the back of the back seats?

Thanks guys!

please guys any suggestions?
Im totally green when it comes to ICE.

I read up about free positioning of the SUB, but apparently the base looses some of its quality.

How you doing

- yeah your Amp should be enough to power the JBL subs, i got a 2 X 60rms Apline Amp thats powering my Alpine type S 12 inch (not to it fullest)

- I got mine speakers running of the deck and sub off the amp this allows me to adjust my speakers through the deck for treble and the sub with my sub woofer controls for bass. So as i turn the music louder, speakers wont distorted and sub bass louder without losing sound quality.

- Bridge is when you have 2 channels, Ch1: - +, CH2: - + and you connect - onto Ch1 to - on your sub and you connect + onto Ch2 onto + on your sub, basically it uses both channels to create more power for your sub

-I'm currently customing my boot, and the sub is in free air, i'm losing a lot of bass, the things that made it hard is a got a rear sturt brace that doesn't give me much working space. It facing towards the rear of the car and i'm putting dacron behind it.( I can e-mail some picks to ya if you like)

Also it depends on your overall set-up i got all Apline gear that i puchuse from cartoys, coaxial for front in customs moulds, 6 x 9 for rear and 12 inch in boot. Alpine amp, Apline CD and MD, got sub control, EQ the Works

let me know if any problems

Chreers mate,

Im gonna rewire it on friday.
By the way what would cause a highpitched noise in my speakers as my rev goes up? Is it electrical interfearance? And would getting thicker speaker cables take this away.

Just bought this one from jaycar:

Would it be overkill if I get any of these?

it is alternator noise transferred by your RCA cables.
You need to find out where the noise get introduced to your system.
You need to run your RCA cables separetly where there is no power cables next to it.
Also get a CAT5 or unshielded RCA cables.
You can also use noise reducers instead however, this will drop your sound quality. This way is a patch rather than a solution

It is actualy called UTP (unsheilded twisted pair) RCA Cable,
i read a lot about them, and it shound like an excellent solution against the alternator noise in ICE.

Ive got it working now. thanx guys. Didnt buy the RCA I mentioned from jaycar. The dude there recommended me getting a different one.
Its all working great now.

Speakers are hooked up to the head unit. And the Sub is bridged to the AMP.

Have a couple of questions though.
I dont have the manual for my amp. There are a couple of switches on the rear speaker part.
switch 1: LP, HP, Full
switch 2: 16db, - , 0
knob 1: HP
knob 2: LP
Knob 3: Gain

I figured out what gain is. But I cant hear too much differance changing the othere ones around.

The Bass is great now, but have a problem, that my whole boot lid is vibrating, it is sound proofed with the bitchment stuff.
And my rear view mirror "plastic glass bits" (where the light comes through).

Cheers
