Broken face plate

Post by AJ »

Hi guys.

I dropped the face place from my head unit and now the display doesn't work properly. Mine is the same as the head unit half way down this page

http://www.pioneeraus.com.au/car_entert ... index.html

Is there any way to fix it or get a new face from somewhere?

Cheers,
AJ.

Im not sure, but i dont think you can just buy a face, i think they make them so they are unique so that you cant steal someone elses and just buy the face. or atleast if you replace the face with a new one you need a special tool. If you are in no rush, you could try ebay for the same model with the cdplayer broken or soemthing like that.
otherwise pioneer would be the best people to speak to
to tell you the truth though, it will proberbly be cheaper to look at getting a new head unit (which sux)

I don't think they are uniquely coded but the cost of a replacement face would probably require proof of purchase which in this case shouldn't be a problem but the cost would be a big deterrant I think.

I can't see why it couldn't be repaired.

You can buy replacement Faces for CD Players provided the model isnt a deleted unit. However the faces are not cheap. Usually you would be looking around the $150 just for a face. Some companies will only sell you a Face, if u have a receipt, that proves that you did buy the unit legit. That unit is still a current model, so you shouldnt have any problems in getting a replacement face.

And by the way, Faces are not encoded to the deck. Hope this helps you out!

I could probably source you one via work at cost....

the $150 estimate is about right though

I've not spoken to Pioneer yet but that sounds reasonable I thought. Can you check out how much you can get it for please? The model number on the front is DEH-P5550MP. Cheers mate.
