bin lookin at the form on ere for that firm posted up but dont understand all the abreviations if somebody can fill the form in and send it back via email to me it would be a great help.

size of bar 165(L) cm x 48 cm (H) X 58 cm (D) max weight 10 kg

sideskirts roughly same length and weight 7kg

or is it cheaper to arrange shipping your end for this groupy?
maybe its worth lookin into at your end probably will be as i live in rip off britain dont forget.
u may be able to sort it as u pay shipping costs when order arrives in oz?

all i need do then is confirm each order once the required number is reached then contact shue when the orders ready to be collected.

in the meantime i will keep trying to sort something my end.

I have talked with a Maersk Logistics rep to give me a quote today, based on 15 bumpers, max 10kg each 165(L) cm x 48 cm (H) X 58 cm (D)
So, total of max 150kg from London port to Melbourne port. (This is pretty much calculating the heaviest weight scenario. Considering some buyers might order side skirts, overall weight might drop.)

They will send me a quote via email soon, as soon as I have news, will update you all.

Jayfromukftooc, I assumed the nearest port to you is London. Can you please confirm this, or advice the nearest port.

I have just received the postage estimate.

15 bumpers x 165(L)x48(H)x58(W) x 10kg, total of 150 kgs.

Total postage estimate was AUD$723,
Which means around AUD$48 per person.

Above estimate does not include port charges, which was around AUD$200 in total last time. Also have to pay GST & Duty on top.

Also, this is a LCL container, which means shared container.

Mearsk Logistics highlighted the importance of initial packaging. Some sort of crate, or wooden box is recommended.

Below is the contact detail of Mearsk in UK,

whats say can u sort the shipping out from your end ie we get this groupy up and running get the 15 items ordered and all u guys pay me for is the items ordered and shue collect the postage costs and pay in oz to be collected from uk when ready.

would make things ahell of a lot easyer for me as shipping quantity out of the country is new to me but unlike others im willing to do it but time factor is not on my side as im know doin the kit making thing full time so its me myself and i on my production line so that means i make the molds then prep the molds then i laminate the molds then i pull the bar/sideskirts then i pack them so that dont leave me with any spare time running round for a shipping firm gettin quotes ive recently sorted uk deliverys out so items r know collected when done instead of me taking to the carriers.
plus that way all i get paid for is items ordered , this should then stop confusion on shipping costs

what u all think is this the best solution to the shipping problem
also rather than using paypal to pay me im thinking direct bank transfer might be a better option again if everybody who orders pays shue then shue can bank trAnsfer to me.

Sorry to complicate the shipping, but just want to let you guys know that you can avoid the GST and custom duty if you send by normal postal service (like Australia Post, not sure about the UK side) up to $1,000. For courier, the limit is $250. It will just pass the custom automatically without dramas and you do not need an agent.

I found this out when my exhaust was stopped at the custom and took two days to sort it out. That's when the brokerage fee comes into play as I have to pay the agent to get the documentation to clear the custom. That's when they will charge GST and custom duty.

This is the quote I have received recently.

This Quotation applies to the following shipment:
Weight: 150.000 KG Customs Entries: 1
Volume: 6.890 M3 Entry / Invoice Lines: 1
Chargeable: 6.890 M3
QUOTATION DETAILS
Local Currency
DELIVERY CARTAGE WITHIN METRO AREA * AUD$172.25
DESTINATION CARGO AUTOMATION * AUD$15.00
DESTINATION PORT CHARGES * AUD$447.85
CUSTOMS CLEARANCE / AGENCY FEES * AUD$125.00
INTERNATIONAL FREIGHT AUD$723.45
DESTINATION CARGO MGT RE-ENGINEERING * AUD$20.00
DESTINATION TERMINAL HANDLING CHARGES * AUD$103.35
DELIVERY ORDER FEE * AUD$50.00

TOTAL CHARGES: AUD$1656.90

Above quote includes all possible charges and agency fees, product delivered to my address in Melbourne.

On top of these, buyers have to pay %20 GST and Duty fee, and postage to their address if not in Melbourne.

Doing basic calculation to figure out the total GST and Duty;
15bumpers * GBP140 * 2.4 exchange rate * %20 GST and Duty = AUD$1008

Combined with total postage charges;
AUD$1008 GST and Duty + AUD$1656 = AUD$2664 (total) / 15 = AUD$177 per bumper

Final number is same as what jayfromukftooc quoted to us.

There are 3 reasons why the sea shipment is not as cheap as we thought initially for this group buy.
- Volume of the bumper is large, thus, port charges are higher. For eg; we paid $187 for seat covers, and total weight was 250 kilos. However, they took a very small space, 5 cardboard boxes, which may equals to 3 bumpers’ volume. On the other hand $450 for 15 bumpers total of 150 kilos. So, it seems that space is more important then weight when it comes to using ship for postage.
- 15 bumpers is not big enough to fill up a full container, thus, we are sharing a container with other people’s postage, which called LLC, and it is more expensive then a full container.
- It seems that government has a charge for every single word in the alphabet when it comes to postage via ship!

Although I tried to help as much as I can, I don’t think we have a chance to save some postage via ship, unless I made a mistake somewhere.

Sorry guys, no good news this time.

I wonder what do we do next…
