Turbo with Tip

Post by barfy »

Ok as you all know FNTSY is selling his turbo and im pretty interested, the only thing im concerned with is will the tip beable to handle the extra pressure ?? Ive spoke to a few mechanics and basically its a fifty fifty situation due to the lack of turbo FTO's and Auto turbo FTO's for that matter .... The last thing i want is to f**k up my tip cause we all know how much that will cost !!

So does anyone have any thoughts or know of a success story of a Auto FTO turbo ?

Apart from strengthen the torque converter, you also have to let the Microtech to take over your MAP sensor, & disconnect the original one as they can't receive the boost pressure once the boost comes in. Since it’s very low boost with very small useable range, your car will bunny hop & will cause a shifting problem like crazy if you don’t let Microtech do the job.

Seeing that the auto trans is bigger than a manual trans would there be an issue with fitting it, and even heat issues ??

You can solve the heat issue with an oil cooler & a transmission oil cooler too. Never seen the design in real life, but it shouldn't be a problem as its a high mount turbo setup.

The only other Tip FTO I can think of is Scracy's old FTO.

The HKS FTO now owned by Wildride( I think?)

Good man, no need for boost.
Heh, real men make power without forcing air in there

Also, isn't HKSFTO currently running without MIVEC enabled due to problems with the cams switching over under boost?

Provided you don't over do the boost the tip auto can handle it no problems.
HKSFTO runs with oil and tranny cooler and heat is never an issue.

[edit]
As per bucket, do any of the other turbo fto owners have any issues with mivec under boost?

Ive done a good deal of testing and investigation on the tip with turbo and would never run one without an oil cooler. Heat dissipation is the 4 speed tip box weak point and even with the cooler on a sustained 120+mph runs it gets hot enough to make me slow back down again.
