They're not cheap anymore either. Used to be able to pickup a shitbox one for a 2 grand, even rusted out cars are pulling 5g & above. A fully restored Cooper S pull anywhere up to 50 grand 8O

Guy down my street with one sitting out the front of the house.
Fair condition, used to have plates, and suddenly doesn't.

Obviously had enough of the brits.

I'd take it off his hands if my bug wasn't being pushed back in to my immediate possession in the near future. :?

Rebuilt the gearbox today. Not as difficult as I thought it'd be. Not logical though, had to watch a 30 minute Youtube vid to understand how it comes apart.

So after rebuilding the gearbox, I did a quick check of the motor before I was going to put it all back together... it needed rebuilding as well

A couple of dodgy cam followers destroyed the cam. Crank is ok, just needs new big end & main bearings, also thrust washers. Don't have to pull pistons, the bores are ok.

Got all my parts bar the new cam which should arrive tomorrow. New cam bearings went in this morning.

Can I come to yours and spend a weekend building engines? I'm really good at replacing exhaust camshafts and if you're lucky enough to get onto me before 9am then there's a chance I'll be sober enough to go for a beer run.
