Does anyone know if the Version R Rear swaybar is a direct fit to a GPX or if it like the front swaybar requires different control arms or anything?

Direct fit, just need bigger bushes to match.

Or are they too rare and people go for aftermarket swaybars?

Rear ones are almost as rare as the vR ones. Whiteline has discontinued their 22mm one (though there may be some lurking about on the Web). Bennoz was having a mob near him made a rear one up so any size can be made, but they are slow at getting to it.

So I had to modify the connecting brackets to make this work. Nothing major, just drilled some holes & put in some nutserts. For a regular nut & bolts, an 8mm hole will suffice, for an M-8 nutsert I had to drill to 10mm.

Then I found all the stress fractures in the passenger side bracket. So I checked ASA & one of the part numbers have changed on the later models, potentially being made stronger? So I've ordered 2 from Amayamamaaaaaammmaah. If they're the same, I'll just weld in some support steel to beef them up.

I know the answer to the question already probably but why didnt you just drill a hole and put a nut on the other side? lol

Spose I should update this. Swaybar is finally fitted. Got a new swaybar bracket from Amayama, part number MR554491 from a CH lancer.

Obviously had reported faults from the original bracket design, so it's been beefed up quite a bit, full plate welded on top.

Used hand made swaybar link brackets (aftermarket ones snapped as usual) and KLC139 Whiteline adjustable droplinks

Nice job Mr Pres! Would you by chance have the part number for the other sides bracket as well? I'm having a terrible time getting it off my Mitsubishi ASA.
