iPod

Post by mike »

I have the stock sound system in my car and Im looking at wiring my iPod to it. Has anyone taken the stock deck out before? What ports are at the back? Any suggestions on how to do it? I will not use iTrip!

There are lots of car accessories for Ipod, but since you going to use the stock head unit, these (link below) would be the best product for it at the moment.

You don't have to get the Belkin one, as there are heaps of other brands that do similar things & cheaper, but it does give you some idea what to look for.

Well.... it is pricey cause its a genuine Apple product. Not only that it tunes into your existing sterio's radio... so its really never gonna have the sound quality of being hard wired in.

If you are listening to mp3s then the file compression has already reduced the sound quality so I really don't see any problem with using fm modulators, there are cheap ones available at Jaycar etc.

I have an Auxiliary input at the front of my head unit so all I had to do was buy a $2 cable and plug my mp3 player in :P[/img]
LED ALL the things.

I own a Belkin FM Trasmitter for the Ipod, and it works fine. But the only thing I hate about it is that it uses 2 AAA batteries.

In regards to the ITrip - used it, hate it. Drains my ipod like the sun drying up a puddle of water. Also, it doesnt transmit properly.

Like James said most people rip their music to a lower quality sound so it's not going to be the same as CD quality no matter how you wire the damn thing in.

There's nothing wrong with the iTrip's just don't get the apple one. Belkin makes one that's just as good for about $40

*Edit* rnboi beat me to it

Well since i posted on the other iPod topic I thought I would do it again for this topic.

OK some info on connecting your iPod to your car head unit.

Most head units with CD Changer connectability can use these functions to control the iPod through a converter. check out these sites i found after a quick search for more info.
