exaust- few questions

Post by shue »

hi, took my car today to an exaust shop to get my extractors fitted and also get a general quote for the rest of my set up. the guy said i had a cat ( which i knew) so the way to go there is a hi flo cat, the rest of the exaust he said i had like 3 or 4 "hotdogs", no muffler. now is the so called " hotdog" a muffler? i guess not. he showed me one and all it is a hot dog shaped pipe with thingys inside. hope im making sense here. does that cos any trouble with flow. according to the exaust shop guy he said leave them alone as they dont cause any exaust gas flow problems. do u think my exaust has been worked on before? or its just a factory set up?

"hot dog"=resonator, its to silence the exhaust the system, since FTO is a N/A, you won't get much benifit by taking it out.

Yep, with custom rear ends, you need one resonator & a rear muffler.
You can spend big bucks on good hi flow hot dogs & mufflers - but as Kev says, N/A.... your not really warranting it. Sure go for a high flow cat (thats the biggest restriction standard) and a nice straight through rear muffler.

Lee got hi-flowed cat, as i brought like 5 of them in one go for him, one is on my car, & i think he used up two more, so 2 left. They are U.S made one, you will notice a different with it.
