http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Mitsubishi-FTO_W ... dZViewItem
Damaged FTO - GR on ebay. Maybe some of yall wanna snap it up, but bidding price starts at $5900
Was hoping he would just dissect it and sell off the parts individually
So whos FTO does that belong to?

nup
Nup,
$4000-$5000 would fix that (as long as no engine damage - and he says there is none). My first FTO was damaged when I bought it 3 yrs ago for $10800 and cost me $3000 to fix (wasnt quite as bad as the one in the pic). An that included paying $700 for a new headlight (know better now).

Bid too High
There is no way that bid is too high. A halfcut will nearly cost you that. I saw a full half cut for sale last week for $5500 and this is a whole car (that has previously been complianced and registered). Even if you didnt fix it, think how much you would sell the undamaged bits for individually. Id say its about right. If I had the spare cash, id buy it and then sell off the bits. Youd make more than that. Particularly when you see figures like $2800 for a tip box (recent quote from forum member) and about $3000 for the engine.

Was thinking of the same thing dstocks - buy it if i have the spare $$ then sell the parts individually
PROFIT
but as a normal FTO owner, and a consumer, i would like to see the bidding price start at 99c like most things on ebay
chu reckon if i msg him, he will give me that centre console surround (provided if its not snapped) - "buy it now price: $1?" lol

Point
Whats the point - it would never stay there. There are too many people like you and me out there that trawl these sites all the time looking for bargains (id already seen that add before it was posted - generally do an ebay search each morning).

IMO the starting price is way too much, i've seen lighter damaged condition GPX for smilar price, & if people remember, one of the oversea student sold his GPX for $7000 with few minor problems & light damage. Althought the new owner want $15-16k for it

Different
Thats a little different as sometimes someone has no choice but to sell cheap as they have to leave country. Ive seen one or two of those as well.
I guess this is a little academic as we really cant see what sort of condition the rest of the car is in. If you assume that the car would sell for $12000 if it had no damage, then that gives you $6000 to spend on fixing. If it was worth $11000, then that gives you $5000. The damage that is shown would be able to be fixed for about $5000 (my guess). The individual parts are worth more than $5900 if you were to scrap it. Having said this, the effort required to sell said parts (and dispose of shell) is not taken into account in this.

I'm just using that as one example, & not as the only example, like i said, there are few cheaper one's out there with better conditions. Me & few other mates actually been to that place, & let just say they are full of "suprises"

Looks a bit dodgy too me...
Notice the front chassis rail all screwed up on the right? Notice the engine cross member bolted to that rail? that means the engine postion is out of whack ie driveline is out of whack, which means if the whole unit is not jigged straight, you're gonna have shot CV's & diff within a very short period of time...

She's ALIVE! Roadworthy, registered, 89000kms and I've cleaned her up almost like rolling out of the factory in Japan
