I've tried everything under the sun to get the GR's lifters quiet and nothing has worked until now.

THE DEFINATIVE ANSWER TO A LIFTER NOISE FIX IS:

NASON LIFTERS RHT7400
CASTROL EDGE 5W40

Reviving an old topic, but has anyone bought http://www.3sx.com/store/comersus_viewI ... duct=12153 and did it fit for their GR?
Mine is a GR 96 and I am considering buying these as my tappets go off on a cold start for 5 minutes and then go quiet.

I never did get confirmation that these would fit. They certainly looked like it. Only problem is, the postage to get them here is almost 100 bucks, bring a set to $250. For an extra $25 you can get a set from Meek that are a known fit & the same 3rd gen style with the bigger oil feed. I use them in my 6A13 & haven't had a tap out of it for years.

Then you'll understand the meaning of expensive lol

Thanks Bennoz, I would go with Meek then..how long does it take to replace the front and rear tappets?..i was wondering about the labour costs to get this done.

There's a bit of work involved in it. If you have the right tools & a bit of experience doing it, maybe 3 - 4 hours?? I think the first time I did it, the front bank took 2 hours. Obviously a bit more work involved in getting to the rears.

Right tools = Maybe, bit of experience = Amateur level and i wouldn't try the tappets myself.
Any recommended mechanic in Sydney for this job?

Make sure you get the tappet lifting tool, otherwise there will be many times that the tools you use just slip away.

The rears weren't too bad for me, you need to be the right height though otherwise it's a back breaker.

I would rather go with someone who has experience doing this or a mechanic. Cheers..

You recommending wrong parts again?? I mentioned ages ago they wont fit.

The above are what some Magnas and Lancers use. They are longer and thinner than the FTO ones. FTO uses the same lifters as a 1.8 Litre Lancer GSR Turbo.

You can get them for like $7 each at Bursons! Don't know why you wanna pay more by looking overseas or meek!! Part number RHT7400 by nasons.

Also Meek use the nason lifters and they charge $11-12 each if you buy 24.

Go to Bursons and they charge $7, repco charge $9 and you cvan buy them separately so just shows ya how much of a rip meek and everyone one else charge!

Also they don't look the same as the FTO lifters, if you look at them enough which I did when I wanted to determine which other car uses the same lifters as the FTO.
