suggestion - vic club weekend getaway?

Post by SILVERFISH »

howdy all,
the vic boards have been fairly slow lately, so i figured i'd come up with my own suggestion.
would there be any interest in a FTO club weekend away in Halls Gap?
it's about 3 - 3.5 hrs west of melbourne (about 4hrs if you're from the eastern suburbs)
it's surrounded by hills and has some of the best look outs i've ever seen
(and the best hill climbing roads i've ever driven!!!)

Image

was thinking about mid-to-late august book out a motel for a saturday night and get a group discount
(approx. $100 per couple) and everyone can just arrive when it suits them on the saturday
(we'll get a place with a tennis court for all you tennis playin people)
short walk to one of the restuarants for dinner & drinks once we've all arrived.
sunday we can all cruise through the hills to all the lookouts and stuff,
maybe do a bbq lunch somewhere, then hitting the highway and heading home sunday night.

just an idea at the moment, if there's any interest i can start putting together a real plan :P
so what do we think people?

Halls Gap had no signs of the fires when i was there on sunday,
but just near Stawell it was pretty surreal...
kms & kms of trees that had all been burnt, but looked to be recovering well...
it felt like driving through the forest of The Blair Witch Project

I'd be interested.. I'll need to meet people once I get an FTO, and you'd all be going through my neck of the woods to get to Halls Gap (I'm in Ballarat) so it sounds good!

You can pretty much count me in as long as I'm not working. That's the biggest problem for me I guess...... :(
