Gearbox problem, needs help/advise?????

Post by FTO101 »

Hi,

I have a 95 model FTO GPX Auto titronic
2 weeks ago I took my car for regular service, and yesterday my car gearbox is playing up. It seem to have problem go into 2nd gear, once it has reached 3rd gear it will not come back to 2nd gear or 1st gear even I stopped the car. Anyone experienced this kind of problem before?? Anyone know what is likely the problem is coming from? I am living in Melbourne, know who around my area can fix this type of problem?? Please advise. :?:

Thanks in advance.

I had a similar problem about a year ago and the car would stay on 3rd gear and flash on the instrument panel. This means the car is switching to limp mode.

Hopefully yours is just the switch (electronic module) inside the transmision.
Mine was more serious and ended costing me $3000 to recondition the tranny.

I can't remember the place I got mine done (eastern side of Melbourne), But try contacting Hypertech Auto in Vermont and speak to Arnold. He's the guy who directed me to this tranny specialist not far from them.

Try Manuel Automatics at 353 Settlement Rd, Thomastown. They reconditioned my tip transmission just 3 months ago. They specialise in Jap imports. Phone: (03) 9466 4499

The whole thing cost $2500 including labour for the 5-speed tip box. Warranty paid $1250 and I dished out the rest.

No, I usually do all minor servicing on my FTO.... Apart from the tranny, so far I don't need to take my car to specialist. (Touch Wood).. :D

5 Speed?? how come your titronic is 5 speed?? Mine is only 4 speed I think because it only show 4 speeds on the dash.

So your problem had nothing to do with ECU??

No, it wasn't an ECU problem but they replaced a sensor switch inside the the gearbox itself when they reconditioned it.
