95 gpx fto mivec

Post by styllic2001 »

heys guys just a piece of advice and guide from the forum here. the story begins....

i have bought a 95 fto gpx mivec.... having 75ks on the clock now i have done up to 90ks not too bad for a yr and the half.

but my major concern is what is the actual Ks done on this car? when i bought over the car was abit disappointing. the gearbox oil was not change, engine oil wass not service regularly and the water inside is abit rusty.

i did all the change for this stuff at regular intervals especially the oil i change every 5Ks with mobil 1. gearbox oil n filter change.

is there any other way to check the actual condition of this car? i dont know whether the car done a major service before. the timing belt has been changed but not the water pump. just wondering how long will it last before another problems crops up

coz i really like this fto as it has a series 2 front bar VS sideskirts and rear spolier and advan jap wheels lol :)

and i notice the undernealth chasis like the area around the rear exhaust there is sign of rusting whats its shows. and the tappets is noisy in this motor.
is the car abused previously but i bought the car from a lady who drive it to work only. i check the weld marks for this car inside out everything is factory no smash on the car or any signs of accidents before.

so can anyone out there advise me or should i sell it and get another fto gpx

cheers

long story hope u guys wont get bored

and the tappets is noisy in this motor.
as is with all FTOs lol
...i bought the car from a lady who drive it to work only.
and never even drove it to a mechanic's at all, and the quickest way to work was probably through a beach lol

if u see any rust, get rid of it asap, even if it's just surface rust cos it doesnt look pretty lol.

my biggest regret about my car is not taking it for a RACQ master check thingo when i got it, cos even though i was pretty much spot on about the condition of the car.... and i knew it was in an accident... i didnt realise the extend of the accident until lately when i tried working on it (things dont line up once u pull it off and try to put it back)

Yep Borep is pretty much on the ball there. Take it to RACV or RACQ or wherever the hell you are for a full inspection and they will give you a report on pretty much everything on the car except the hardcore internals of the engine itself.

The report will be split into categories - fine, observation, needs close attention

It's cost you a couple of hundred bucks though so another option is to learn more about the car from this forum and do it yourself. It will be better off that way in the long run.

But basically you can't really assess what's going on with the car until you get symptoms first. Eg. A noise or irregular behaviour.

Anyway good luck to you!

I'm gonna say this against the flow.

You have bought it already....so your in!

So if you like the car, just be ready to fix it...properly!

If you unsure about the rust get some1 to look at it first. If its on the zorst only then no majot concern.

You should assume nothing has been done, & be lazy and wait for it to die - not such a bad thing. Just keep an eye on all the vitals and go from there. Save yourself some money, M1 oil can probably gof ro 10k easily.

Dont trust the Kms. Mine for example has 120k on the clock now. Actually the engine has only done about 70k as it was replaced when the car was in an accident, which I knew about before i bought it. I have done heaps of stuff in mine, and it runs fine. PLus I have 180k cluster sitting in the garage 5min job to change.

get the tappets adjusted and at the same time they can check to see the condition of the the timing belt etc.
