i thought i was getting close but then i got to the last 4 pieces and thought

"i've f*****d this up"

way too hard so i too gave up :evil:

Well, Im a little confused.
I followed all the rules, and solved it in under 4 minutes, but when I hit submit, it says it's not a valid solution. Looks good to me. I bet if you solve the real thing they'll come up with a similar response so you dont get the prize money.

Invalid solution my ass... :evil:

that's the demo version, it has 16 pieces (4x4) only. Eternity II has 256 pieces (16x16) 8O

There's 256 pieces, which can be arranged in 256 factorial ways. That's a huge number - my windows calculator shows it's 8.6x10^506.

It's actually a bit smaller because the corner and edge pieces can only be placed certain way.

But then again, all pieces can be rotated.

I think the formula for 256 pieces that can be rotated 4 ways that do NOT have borders and corners is 4^256 x 256! = 10^661 or so.

That number of combinations is, of course, impossible to compute.


maybe we could gather all FTOAustralia members to solve this puzzle lol.
