hi, everyone, please help me with the engine noise!!

I can not find anyone in Sydney area help me with it~

I went to many car workshop and some private mechanic, and they all ask me to change the lifters, and I can not find anywhere sell the lifter,(they do not want to order it for me, unless I wish to pay DEPOSIT and the lifter will be $45/ea)... I know for an GPX model could adjust the lifter to fix the problem, but nobody can do it..

Im totally sick of the noise, please help me out ~~


please some one in sydney area help me ...

thanks for reply, I called them last week, and they ask for 1.5-2k

1500-2000 toooooo much for me..

tappets aren't that bad to do, just takes a long time to do and then you get a sore back from bein bent over in the engine bay for a couple of hours.

Considering that he doesnt know what lifters are, also the fact that his car is a GPX, there's not a lot of help here...

Ralph, go and see a mechanic. We cant help you any further here unless soneone from here has the time to go & do them. Dont get me wrong, but I dont hold much faith that Jonowong will be able to do them for you.

You could try my mobile mechanic. If you are in his area, he might do them for you. His name is John on 0419 699 837 - say Ben with the Red FTO gave you his number.

Any mechanic can adjust a tappet, every second car on the road has them!

did you say you had a GPX, the MIVEC engine is the only one with adjustible tappets, there is a DIY on this fourm.

i was prob one of the first to change my lifters if its non mivec get the tool trust me!

i made my own tool to adjust the tappets, he may have to replace the tappet screws in which case it probably would be about 45 each as mine cost 30 each in NZ a year n a half ago

so have we decyphered what type of engine it has, ie oil cap on left or right side?????????
