1 of the Spark Plugs is Not Firing up

Post by tb447 »

Hi there,

I recently changed my spark plugs and the leads and after changing them, the car is shaking when its on idle mode and when you accelerate the car isn't smooth any more.

My mechanic thought it was the spark plug leads order, and we tried lots of combinations (removed the manifold like 20 times) but still no luck. We tried putting on the old spark plugs and leads and still no luck.

Any ideas on what is happening there? Anyone have the same issue after changing their spark plugs and leads? Its the strangest thing. Does anyone know good FTO specialist mechanics, I would really like to get this fixed up?

Thanks

Spark Plug Firing Order

Post by tb447 »

This is a tricky one!!

Does anyone have a definite configuration, in relation to the clyinder numbering and the lead configuration.

Is it

(Back Drivers Side ) 2 4 6 (Back Passenger Side)
(Front Drivers Side ) 1 3 5 (Front Passenger Side)

and the leads go -:

1 - 6
3 - 4
5 - 2

Are there any good FTO specialist mechanics that would have the expertise to do this?

Is this the only cause of a spark plug not firing? Could there be anything else that could be causing this?

Have you checked your leads?? They might be new, but also can be faulty.

Thanks.

the link config is correct from memory. Never had an issue with it.

typically u change your old plug and the leads break...check them or the coil pack itself.

Thanks KJ. I'll try the other leads tomorrow. Better not be the coilpacks knackered...i'll kick the car lol.

So just to clarify, it'd be

Back bank (firewall block) 2 4 6
Front back (radiator block) 1 3 5

And the connections are

1 - 4, 3 - 6, 5 - 2.

Cheers.
