Other mods are just a HKS filter, de-cat pipe & Kakimoto cat-back exhaust.
I have a Mivec controller also but that was on standard settings.
I also have the Veilside bodykit which induces quite a bit of drag...

I dont have anything in my boot, no spare, no install of any kind but I understand the petrol differences over here make quite a difference?

what is the RON rating of the fuel you are using over there?

here the best we could get from most outlets are 98RON...

Ah it's the same over here, I was using 98 RON at the time, you can get 100 RON - alledgedly - but I've never tried it. I just read on another 1/4 mile post on this forum somebody said your petrol wasn't up to scratch which would explain why average times seem to be a little quicker over here.

Hey Eric, any chance you could show us your most recent dynograph? I'd like to see how smooth the MIVEC transition can be tuned out...

If I can find it =)

If I remember correctly, I didn't have any noticable change in torque. I believe my curve was relatively flat, tarting to taper downwards after the mivec point.

If I can find it, I'll scan and upload it.

Something tells me that a camshaft upgrade is in order for at least the MIVEC lobes.

but then again I'm going to take a long time to get to that =)

ok i can confirm that my dip at mivec change point is gone! (thanks to front pipe)

and as madfto's results my torque dipped slight at that point

and in answer the to the octane boost petrol additive question the results below speak for themselves

of course im not gonna compare my results to anyone except the other fto's on that same day, gotta mention though that my engine oil tank was overfilled, so my readings could definitely improve once this is rectified

im hoping to get sub 15 1/4 mile time one day, that will mean more than this dyno chart

before octane boost

after octane boost

nice work! congrats Jiwan... :D

i hope the 'dip' in my dynograph gets fixed when the LT8 is tuned... after seeing how smooth yours is (despite the slight drop of torque), mine seems pretty serious... :?

hope all goes well with the repairs though'...

Adam, that's a very good HP figure given the fact that you only got one mod done to your car... you watch, the performance bug will bite you soon, hahaha! :D

yeah but the 'no-money-to-fund-performance' bug spray will prolly kill that bug quick ;)

Looking at all those graphs, I reckon they only plot up to around 6,500-7,000rpm (or whatever 180km/h is in 3rd gear). Those power curve shapes look like they stop "early". Is that correct?

If so, your peak power isn't really the peak. That might explain a few things... like why your power results are consistently around 102-105kw, whereas my results were around 120kw (161bhp atw). Your graphs just didn't go far enough, thanks to the speed limiter in the chosen gear.

Did anyone talk to the person doing the testing, and find out the peak rpm he saw? The bloke that did mine commented that the power figure was "still going up" when the 8,000rpm rev limiter was reached, hehe. Gotta love those little MIVEC powerplants. :)

same here, if you look at my dynograph the line keeps climbing towards the 8000rpm redline, although power delivery isn't as smooth beyond the MIVEC cutover point...

we didnt confirm what rpm it reached, or whether the rev limiter or speed limiter was hit

but i think the scale on the right is for torque in N, and not engine rpm

i wish they had let us watch on the side to keep an eye on the tacho and speedo... when i got it doen at ricol they let us do that...

maybe we should have tested in 2nd gear so that speed limiter isnt touched... then again looks like adam's didnt reach the 180, but my suspicion is that his chart is a little out of scale... or his gear ratio is different? so it hit the rev limiter way before 180.. or some other variable....

i'll ring UAS and see if they remember

well.. just spoke to UAS (not directly with the mechanic who ran the test),
they ran the tests in 4th (manuals) and 3rd (autos), and most of them reached the speed limiter. hence our results may not be indicitive of the real peak power of our cars.

i dont know which cars had the speed de-limited though... does safc ii do that? coz the guy with the most gains from CAI kit had that.

oh and i remember now at Ricol, they let us sit in the passenger seat...

the did mention you could sit in the passenger seat at some stage during the day...
wasnt really payin attention cause it was loud enough behind the cars let alone in them ;)

well that was one gear too high, for both models, to be able to test the full rev-range.

These graphs show approximately the first 85% of the FTO's rev range but thanks to the speed limiter kicking in, miss the last 15% which includes the data a lot of you were after - the peak power output!

Peak Power: 7,500-7,700rpm
Rev Limiter: 8,200rpm
Speed Limiter 180kmh (tip = 3rd gear @ a bit over 7,200rpm) (manual = 4th gear @ a bit under 7,000rpm)

It's a pity that no one picked up on this on the day, so we could see the actual peak output from your engines and a full rev-range graph. :(
