Been reading these forums for a couple of weeks now but first actual post. I'm after an auto (tip) FTO, preferably black/white around the 7.5k mark. Most important thing is to be clean and well taken care of, even a stock one would would be great.
A lot of friends have been telling me to avoid FTO's because of reliability and parts issues etc, but I can't help it - I absolutely love them. That's why I'm asking on these forums instead of just searching carsales and TP. I reckon the best chance of finding a good/clean/reliable FTO would be to ask here because you all know your sht, and take excellent care of your rides.

Still looking for one... not too many in Melbourne and I am going to Sydney in 2 weeks with some mates, wouldn't mind driving one back down so that is definitely an option. QLD might be a bit too far however haha
Any comments about that one? The description is a bit iffy and I've read the thread on "What to look for when buying an FTO" but anything I need to especially look out for when inspecting it? Do you think that mileage is legit?
And it's advertised as GPR but that's a GPX right?
looks like a GPX, GPR or GP version R, have different seats, and the fact there is a GPX sticker on the back...
81 kms is low for a 12 year old car..., depends when it was imported.....find that out and then make sure there is full service records since it arrived in oz....
engine bay is very dirty.... doesnt mean the car has done more kms, but dont know if owner has ever cleaned in there.....
mine has done 80 000kms more then that and has a lot cleaner engine bay

I been slack cleaning my engine bay too, feel bad about it actually. Good incentive for keeping it clean is when you are working on it you don't end up looking like a grease covered scum bag haha

I think thats rubbish... I didnt say clean it when you sell.. i said keep it clean in generall!! using your argument thats like saying people that have beautiiful looking engine bays with painted covers, aluminium caps, polished intakes etc are trying to hide something.... Cleaning the engine bay is not going to hide oil leaks etc... if you want to find leaks, look under the car or take the covers off and watch the seals sweat...... which would be part of a proper inspection.

Euro dont be a dick. Im not talking about guys that have imaculate looking engine bays all the time and have the bling to go with it. Im more talking about like when you go to a car yard and the have professionally cleaned the engine bay.

ANd watch the seals sweet?? Right, Tell me how are you gonna do that. If i clean a seal, depending on how bad the leak was it could take weeks or even months before showing. Also i gaurantee on "proper" inspection, they are NOT going to look at every seal OR pull off every cover.

Dont be a dick? what so voicing an opinion is being a dick? Mate, All I said was someone having a clean engine bay can be a reflection of the owner... just like looking into the corners of doors, boots etc to see how particular someone is. I never said it means the car is mechanically sound. And for the record, considering FTO's often leak around the cam seals, I would have thought you would definately have a look around that area, repeatedly before purcashing.
