It could be the flux capacitor as well, you might want to check that out

This or possibly the Dynoceptretainerkeeper 8O

But I would start with the stepper and yes most causes are due to this/ISP sensor or possibly vaccum leak or just low idle setting

Borrow thread a while. Just trying to get confirmation as i didn't get to trial test stepper motor from another fto.

Mine never stalls. But the rev fluctuate a lot everytime i release my accelerator pedal.
Even when i stopped at the lights on foot brakes, it revs itself and stays at 1500rpm (i think i'm cooking my brakes if i let it be any longer)
When i 1st start my car, the revs went over 3500rpm and stays there for 5+ seconds before going down to 1500rpm.

This doesn't happens everytime but it happened most of the time.
And it never stalls. So, stepper motor?
(i have it cleaned by Ben, hoping that'd solve it and it turned out to be ok from all the way back to Brisbane but then it comes back again.)

Adjust idle screw and check your throttle cable, as it could be too tight.

Hmm, should i adjust during the time it behaves normal or abnormal?

I've no idea what gone wrong. If it's okay for some time and not for the other time then couldn't be the idle speed not set right, right?

Another thing other than the rev fluctuates is that, when my foot is on the accelerator pedal i can hear a rattling sound behind the center console and it's gone when my foot is off.

It has to be related since the rev. fluctuates only happens when my foot is off the accelerator pedal.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Sounds like you've got a vacuum line off or something

Have you done any work to the engine recently? Ie changed plugs?

Hmm.. no.
The rattle sounds started after i got my car back from spray paint
And the rev problem started on my 3rd drive after i got my car back from spray paint.

Just to describe it more precisely,
-Sometimes it's fine. But most of the time it's not.

-When it's not fine, the rev fluctuates whenever my foot is not on the accelerator pedal or on a complete stop by footbrakes.

-When it's not fine, and when i stop at the lights on foot brakes, the rev stays constant at 1500rpm+. Once my foot off the brakes, it starts to fluctuates again unless i press the accelerator pedal.

-When it's not fine, and when i put on P/park gear with handbrakes on, the rev fluctuates more aggressively up to 3500+rpms.

-The 1st start of the day is always fine. If it's not fine sometime during the 1st drive, then the 2nd start definitely not fine after that.

-When it's not fine, on the 2nd start, the rev stays at 3500rpm+ for 5+secs then drop back to 1500rpm+ , then starts fluctuates aggressively.

-It never stalls. The pattern of the rev fluctuation or the way it fluctuates are same for everytime, but different between driving gears. It seems to correspond to the gears, as P/D1/2/3/4 have different fluctuation pattern but stays the same for everytime.
