Hooking up EVOScan

I'm trying to help one of the Scottish guys diagnose somehting on his car and leant him my EVOScan cable and software. However it keeps dropping logging off and he cant get it to run for any length of time.

Has anyone doen a write up on getting it set up and running for an FTO cos if I'm honest, its been that long since I used it I cant remember how to get it running and telling him over the phone is useless without me seeing the screen etc.

Any help would be mucho appreciated,
