ISC O- RING

Has this vacuum leak that was pissing me off as I could not find it. Took vacuum hoses off to see if there were any brakes, sprayed carb cleaner over possible leak locations tighten bolts etc and did not find sh*t!

Get what solved it? I blocked the intake off lit of a cigarette and below it through the PCV hose. It was even too red neck for me to believe but it bloody worked! I instantly saw where the leak was coming from and it would have been one of the last places I would have checked!

ISC O-ring leak. The O-ring looked fine to me.

Anyways does anyone have a size so I can go to Repco to get one?

Found it, dealers stock shitloads of them.

Got a new O-ring and the damn think leaks! Exact part number as the Camskill reference from Mitsubishi.

you mean it's still leaking with the new O-ring?

btw, what are the symptoms of vacuum leak from the ISC O-ring?
I got rev fluctuation problem during idling, plan to swap the ISC out and if the problem persists i might wanna try replace the O-ring.

was the area cleaned before installing it? if the area has been scored it mat not work correctly

Yep area totally clean with wax and grease remover etc. I am unsure if the new black version of the ISC is slightly different to the original metal coloured ISC but it still cause a sight vacuum leak.

The O-Ring I got from Nardek when I purchased the ISC is slightly wider than the one camskill sells.

I just used from sealant and it's fine now, no leaks.

Did a proper leak down test and everything seems fine now.

Parts where leaks were before all test:

ISC O-Ring 10 bucks. Mitsubishi have heaps
Rear & Front rocker cover and all three spark plug tube seals (top left for front rocker) - Permaseal kit 70 bucks a side for rocker cover gasket and three plug seals. All major distributors have it.
One of the center bolts of rocker cover (leaking from under the rubber washer) - 1 buck - Wrecker could not find them anywhere.
PCV Grommet. 8 bucks from Toyota, Mitsubishi wanted 40!!!
Oil cap 15 bucks from Supercheap.
Throttle Body gasket Free as I cut out a new gasket.

Idle is now great! So give it a go sometime if you have intermittent idle issues, worked wonders for me.

Fluctuting ide is definately an vacuum issue. Yep old O-Ring was bad even when it looked fine!! New O-ring still was leaking. I could not believe how many vacuum leaks I had!!

Do what I did.

Block off intake at throttle body.
Block off breather pipe hole.
Pull the pipe off the PCV valve
Block off PCV.
Connect from pipe to the PCV pipe, blow in it and if you hear a leak you have a leak in a inlet path someone. Make sure its not coming out of the parts you blocked up. You can clearly hear where the leak is coming from (block pipe you are blowing into so there is pressure build up). Or light a cigarette up and if you have a leak you will see smoke coming out of the affected areas.

OR hook the intake up with a air compressor to do a leak down test. Guides everywhere online. VFAQ.com have one on their site.

Idle now stays where its meant to be instead of up and down. Cheap test before starting to replace expensive gear.
