Re: Truth about pod filters.
saw this before but those pods arent properly insulated but i dno im no expert.
also i read somewhere that pods arent always about power. its like the clean air going into the engine.
but i dno! hahaa anyone can prove me wrong, its just something i read.

Re: Truth about pod filters.
TBH I'm not 100% convinced about pod filters either, but their testing methods are flawed, especially when it comes to cold air intakes. What I'd like to see is them run the car for 5 to 10mins flatout and get those under bonnet temps right up there, then do the stock filter test, then compare this to the cold air intake. Me thinks there would be a much bigger difference...
And to do any dyno testing worth any value you start with a baseline (stock filter), you then test modifications, you then repeat the baseline. If the baselines don't match before and after, your testing is a fail...

Re: Truth about pod filters.
I should make my own video, on how I personally install anything, including pod filters.
Would go something along the lines of this...
Step 1: Whip out the wallet!
Step 2: Call vipfto

Re: Truth about pod filters.
Those tests prove only one thing, that putting a sh*tty pod on a stock car without a Cai does f**k all.
They didnt do the second baseline test, tested it on low displacement engines amd the modified car still pit out f**k all power.
If they did a Cai intake with a decent pod like k&n, hks etc on a thirsty v8 with fuel mods I'm sure you would see a difference.

Might not make the '10% extra' needed so I can feel it,
But it certainly appeases the ears more than the stock box!

Re: Truth about pod filters.
Never run an FTO with a stock filter so can't comment.
One noise ours does make that I don't hear from another FTO (and has been commented on) is this rather loud wind noise when you turn the ignition off.
I used to think it was the pod until AJ came around and we had the car without the intake arm at all, makes the same noise with or without the pod...
There's nothing wrong with the engine, I've gone right over it, but yeah...

Figures then, always been people with airboxes that have commented on the noise.
