There's no 'bearing on 5th' as such, there's a total of 6 bearing in the box, one on each end of the input shaft, one on each end of the output shaft & one on each side of the diff.

When I reco a box, I buy the kit through these guys: http://cobratransmission.com/index.php? ... 27a09dc1c5

As it's cheaper than buying them individually. The box is really quite simple on the inside, it only takes about 4 hours to reco one, providing you've got access to a press.

Bennoz, how much do synchros cost if you know? And does anything else need changing for a complete overhaul of the gearbox?

The syncros are @%$ing expensive. Full reco kit with syncros is over $500: http://cobratransmission.com/index.php? ... 6128c1456c Thats over $650 landed.

If you're really gonna go to town on the box & split the clusters, then yes you can replace all the needle roller bearings as well, that kit you can only get from Mitsubishi is almost $700.

I've done at least half a dozen boxes now, all with around 150 - 200k on them & none of them have needed needle rollers except 1, which was damaged from flying bits (aka one of my boxes lol)
