I'm now pleased to inform you all that a Toyota 86 is home bound. Dad just bought one for my step mum. >.>
I think it's a mid-life crisis in disguise...
...Looks better than an RX350?
Either way, will report back in a few weeks if I manage to drive it...In the wet...With traction control switched off...

Suddenly a 10 year old $20K S15 is horrible value
Not really. Different league for S15 with SR20DET.
The direct rivals are rx8 and s2000. Yet both are still faster than the 86.
I think there will be residual effects for sure. S15 may be faster, but both are sleek coupes and the 86 is newer, looks better, nicer interior etc.
Personally I would rather spend 20K on a near new 86 than 20K on a 10 year old thrashed drifter with 100,000km, whereas without the 86 on the market the S15 would be a serious contender if I were looking to buy
It has already been swapped out for a 2jz in the 86 over in Japan, might become the popular converison for it it seems. Either way we cannot get one for at least another year anyway as there are no cars to buy (unless you import one for 64325 bazillion dollars - which defeats the purpose of the car)

They had swapped one out months ago.
Bit stupid if you ask me. Why f**k up perfect weight distribution with a f**ken heavy old 2J just for skids? Just boost the donk that's in there.

Because that would bump the price right up doing two things - defeating the purpose of the car (extremely low priced rwd sports car) and bump up the market for second hand WRX's
Who wants to buy a 40-50k BRZ when they can buy a second hand 05-06 (probably later) WRX that has AWD for much less?
Just give it time, pretty sure they will eventually charge it when sales start to dwindle in the next year or two..
Or HKS will come along and charge it either or
I guess because whats the point? i mean you have already an sti, which is the same but awd - there probably is a number of them out there though, just not as i guess interesting to announce as a 2jz one. As far as popularity goes a 2jz would win over just the same engine but with a turbo on it ya know?
Although i wonder if a EJ25T would be a straight bolt up to it?

because they want to show up in autosalon power dyno with 1000bhp in a 86.
