Don't mix oils.
Yes put through oil cap or as some people call it the 710
Fill until dipstick says so.. I think just over 4L to full..

Yes put oil in where it says oil on the cap and just keep putting it in and checking the dip stick after putting some oil in stop when it hit the full markbjk wrote:Aaand oil is down. Must've still been warm when I looked at it last night. Is a little above the 3/4 mark. Looks like I'll be making a run to supercheap on Monday.
How do I know how much oil to put in? And on noob-assumption I'm guessing I put it in through the oil cap thing on the engine?
gotta get there one day :)

As in, don't mix weights? Like 10w40 with 15w40 or something like that? Would it be safe to assume there's 10w40 in there from the last service? So I'd be putting about 1L in?

Hm, okay. Might check with dstocks and see if the mechanic remembers (I should hope) what he put in so I don't drain out basically fresh oil.rock_it wrote:Brands or weights..bjk wrote:As in, don't mix weights? Don't say that, now I'm conflicted! But there's no harm chasing up what's in there.silverGPX wrote:Just top it up, lol you can mix oils, who gives a f**k? It's a 1995 model?

Your car your choice. I have been advised by numerous mechanics and the message was clear..
Dont mix oils. So that is what I live by..

Re: BJK's '95 GPX
Agreed. If it is not coming back out the filler hole then it is not full.vipfto wrote:Yip only way to fill box oil is to when it starts to come out although its approx 2.6l

I may be mechanically inadequate, but I'm not that bad. If I'm that worried about it, I generally pay to get it done.silverGPX wrote:I can somehow see this guy getting confused and filling his engine up to the filler hole.
Or waiting until DIY days which are conveniently close.
