Hi everyone. Bought myself a GPX finally and was advised to join this club by the previous owner so no doubt some of you from Sydney will know the car.
Sadly I had to sell my track ready EVO V, but I'm really starting to enjoy the FTO.
I'm pretty much Mitsu-religious but had no idea how unique the FTO was until I checked out this forum. Thanks to all who have added so much content over the years. It has already helped me start tuning and replacing tired parts.
WTTC.. Check out the bonfire thread.. Our biggest meet every year .. In April..
I just had to add it ......

I talk a lot of sh*t, usually have to keep a roll of toilet paper handy in the car for my mouth

G'Day nath, WTTC.
You have bought a nice FTO.
Do you like having sissor doors?

Scissor doors are a good wow factor for a lot of people to look at......but living with them can get frustrating. They need some adjusting and maybe a slight guide rail mod but once I get them right I'm sure I wont complain anymore. They are really handy in the garage
The guy that owned the car before me has done heaps of work, mainly electrical and cosmetic. I'll take some photos and post them tomorrow. Just got new wheels and tyres today to eliminate scrubbing. Going for new suspension / swaybars next.
This is project car #15 for me. If anyone from Newcastle is interested, I can post 1 or 2 pics of previous cars I've owned. Anyone from the Newcastle car scene from early 2000s will probably recognise a few of them
I'm in for a Putty rd run. Haven't been out that way for years.
Thanks for the link. Nice to know it was for sale for so long. Drove the car past him within days of getting back to work... small world.
Put new brakes on already. They were shot. Must have had fun with the slotted rotors
My list of planned mods/upgrades is ridiculous so I'll just post them as they happen, especially the things I do myself if it isn't already covered in the DIY section.
Haha, almost took them off on day 2. I noticed the original mounting points are all still there if I want to put normal hinges back on. I'll see what my mate says about the current setup before I make a final decision but it looks like I might be able to adjust them and add additional struts to make them almost automatic
Mark out the first weekend in April. Hold a bonfire at my place each year. Biggest event of the year and there should be a few coming from up your way.
No doubt it's a great machine. He did a good job and everything was definitely done professionally. I'm mainly upgrading all the old components that die on any car it's age.
I'll hopefully be available for the bonfire. I go to Sydney every few weeks to teach courses so fingers crossed that doesn't interfere.
I'm in Thornton so not exactly Newcastle, but close enough.
The main reason I bought this one was for the front and rear bars (and low Kms) so if they were yours, thanks dstocks
