gpvr turbo
what would be the highest amount of power [bhp] you could get out of a turbo set up in your fto being a front wheel drive?

Re: gpvr turbo
Highest power that the motor can handle stock?
Highest power than is usable in a FWD FTO?
Highest absolute power with no restrictions?

Re: gpvr turbo
I don't think they can make too much power stock as the max boost they handle is quite low (6-7psi from what I've read).
You're better off swapping motors to a 6A13TT or 4G63.
As for usable power, for street, with good suspension and tyres, I'd say around 200ish kw at the wheels but this depends on what you consider usable

Well, at least someone asked on the forum this time, hahaVectose wrote:
Hey spetz! There's an update on the max PSI now, cause Vectose is running like 15 (on a motor with a decompression shim from RPW) for 200andsomething kw at the wheels. Having said that the engine cost him peanuts so he doesn't care if it blows up.spetz wrote:I don't think they can make too much power stock as the max boost they handle is quite low (6-7psi from what I've read).

Re: gpvr turbo
Really, 15psi?
That's actually really impressive but surely there would be no reliability with that?
Vectose how hard do you drive it?
How accurate is the boost gauge?
I've seen the conrods in these engines, they look like toys... 15psi...

Re: gpvr turbo
Should mention on E85 as well. And I do drive it pretty hard. It is my weekend car, so when I do take it out I'm not gonna drive it like a granny.

Does E85 make the boost less stressful on the rods or anything?

Re: gpvr turbo
Reduces the chance of pinging and allows you to run higher boost. Pinging is usually what causes bent rods.

Also, pretty sure the rods are the same as the 6A12TT.

Re: gpvr turbo
Am I right in remembering that E85 is actually cheaper than 98 octane? It's just the associated modifications to run it, and availability?

Re: gpvr turbo
It is cheaper by the litre. But you use about 30% more.
