I would have a GTO - I think they're nice cars. However if you are into 'handling' cars, you would certainly miss the FTO. The GTO is a lot slower in changing direction than the FTO, which is not really surprising given it's substantial extra bulk

That motor is an absolute powerhouse too, and some serious power can be extracted from them. They are a real engineering marvel regarding the technology that they have in them. I think people just get a bit confused about their purpose - they are supposed to be a GT type car, and are never going to beat an Evo or similar in handling and outright speed.

Shame I could never afford to run one 8O. And the only problem with all that technology is that there is a lot to go wrong!

There was a Japanese one featured in NZ Performance Car about a year ago that could run 10 sec 1/4s - not bad for a big old barge :)

Out of curiosity what makes them so heavy? Is it the all wheel steering devices? Then again I was once reading an old HPI Mag and they were doing comparisons like Supra vs GTR and when they got to the GTO instead of comparing with another car, they had the picture of a shuttle with the caption "GTO vs anything from NASA"!

They must have some pretty cool hardware in there.

Hmmm let see V6 3.0 engine, AWD, 4WS, huge brakes, & twin turbo setup, & a body thats like whale. I guess these will make a car heavy right ehehehe

i still would get a GTO if the price is good, it use to be one of my favorite car too 8)
The difference between what we do and what we are capable of doing would suffice to solve most of the world's problem.

Which Clubsport, there are sh*t load of model through out all these yrs. You won't beat a V8 clubsport reqardless which yr or model though. If its V6 Supercharge you might either in front by a bit or just dead even.

Keep in mind that bogans tend to smoke they're tyres up at the start so that's a good 0.5 second head start you have.

Can WildRide or Mikey smoke a Clubby? Out in Hoppers Crossing, that's the most important thing.

It is Honda only Turbo model (excluding F1), & have you seen what some of those U S of A done to them, some run like 13-14sec 1/4 miles.

It is a collection item now though, very rare, & if its in good nick, you'll be paying more then a GPX FTO. the CityII model doesn't look that bad.

There was actually another Honda turbo car, it was a version of the Honda Legend. It had a 2 litre single turbo V6 powerplant which made about 140kw...

But yeah there are some crazy powered up Citys out there - those motors are incredibly tough...

digging up this old thread...
i've seen GTOs off the line with low 13s stock at the drag strip
when launced properly, they shot off the line
only downside is handling and hard to get room in engine bay for modification and heaps of electronical system breakdown...

evo by far...is 500% more reliable and all rounder.....
and OH!
stock for stock evo competitor is STI! NOT WRX!!! no chance in handling !
a mildly modded wrx may match off the line speed of the sti/evo(STOCK)...
past ride : FTO gpx with lots of bling bling
Current ride: EVO 8 with the MOST CARBON IN AUSTRALIA....206KW AT ALL WHEELS
