Squicking noise comeing from the left wheel

Post by jakey106 »

Hey when i am driving i have a intermitent squicking noise from the left wheel and when i tap the brakes the pitch of the noise changes and than goes away which is telling me that it may be the brake pad but i dont understand why it isnt doing it all the time. Also when does the timing belt have to be changed

Timing belt - approx 100k, but if it hasn't been done, it might be over 10 years old now so consider doing it anyhow.

Sounds like a brake pad for sure. Might also indicate that your rotor is slightly warped, hence why it doesn't happen all the time.

Easy enough to check to find out.

could also be a suspension issue

doubt timing belt would make a squeaking noise unless its really gone.. could possibly be one of the cogs though.. when you say left wheel do you mean left when facing the car from the front (this is where timing belt is) or left when sitting in the car?

the noise could be coming from the squeal shim on the brake pads as they may be getting low.

the timing belt will cost close to $300 genuine, or $242 with a trade discount, aftermarket will be cheaper.
