i think its the dyno...
was a bit sus...
but since ill be using the same one ill still be able to see the gains i get from the mods...
took the car in this morning... going back to see at 5 to see the progress.
ill scan the dyno sheet as well....
could it be that my floor mat was in the way there for he didnt have the pedal at wide open throttle?
cos that happens a lot cos they move around too much.
would that affect it?

well it would make sense if it was in 3rd then...
but can u reach 180km/h in 3rd cos the dyno guy said that the speed restriction cut in at 180.
sorry about not putting up the dyno sheet yet haven had a chance to scan it up...
well the guys didnt start today so i had no car for no reason.
tomorrow they are wiring in the ultimate to make sure thats running fine then doing all the suspension then assembling the motor then tuning. fingers crossed she'll be done by friday!
also received my cusco mounts from japan today they are very flash! only thing is one of the front mounts is missing the bolt that goes into the middle on top of the strut!

update time...
so theyre making pretty slow progress...
wont have it till next week now...
doesnt matter lost my licence :( long story behind all that though trust me very long...
anyways theyve wired in the ecu which was a bit tricky and have the car running smoothly. apart from the engine light now comes on due to a supposed problem with the injectors.
they did this so that when the engine is put back together if something doesnt work they know its not the ecu.
so that was done today which means the engine and gearbox is being taken apart tomorrow!
so guys waiting on the UAS pipe and the stock pipe should get sent out tomorrow.
but now to the bad news.
the very helpful guy who has helped me organise a lot of this is on holiday at the moment and not coming back till monday and he put the extractors, front sway bar, collector pipe, water pump, phenolic spacers somewhere and no one can find them! i even helped look throughout the entire place and couldnt find them. i found the springs i had bought which they didnt have with my stuff either so im not happy!
not havinng a good 48 hours :(

well heres the dyno.

Image

i swear mivec doesnt kick in...

nvr2low - alrighty well, the first offence was october last year.. was going along a 80km/h stretch of road and then it went down to 50km/h near my school. i was caught about 50m after the speed limit sign doin 67km/h slowing down not with the brakes (went and checked the photo) i remember i was slowing down as it was a slight uphill. %110 fine andd 3 demerit points, now my recent one last month was doing 109km/h in a 100km/h zone but cos im a p plater im only supposed to do 80km/h now the reason i was speeding is cos it was just as i had found out that someone had damaged my car and i was furious! i wasnt thinking straight i was just so angry. so that was a mega sh*t day for me. so yeah now i dont have my licence...

and what gear do you guess they did it in?
he said that it got cut out by the speed limiter as well
but hmmm
I got 112kw atw, just before my speed limited kicked in @ 180km/h. Good chance I would of got 115kw+ atw if my speed limited was disabled. :(

I doubt speed limited made a difference in your case becuase the power curve starts to dip before the limited kicks in. Im sure you've made that conclusion anyway.

Sucks about your license, hopefully your car turns out sweet. Slow and steady wins the race.:thumleft:

ive lost it for 3 months... but after certain events i might have a chance of not losing it! so have to see how it all turns out.
what gear does it look like its in?

the dyno sheet just doesnt look right...
cant even tell where mivec kicks in or anything...

having issues with the emanage doesnt want to trace so theyre having difficulties tuning it. but the suspension is going in today while they still attempt to tune it

looking at the dyno sheet its not making a lot of power after the mivec point :?
starting about the 145 point, but I could be wrong.

no its definitely not making much power after the mivec point... ive been listening to the video and studying it and it just doesnt sound right either...
and why does it sound like it struggles at the very end? like sorta a back fire but not? do you know what i mean?
if you watch it before he lifts off near the end you'll hear it and understand...
it sounds like the mivec cams arent running properly or something...

anyways an update on procedures.
ECU has been sorted and working properly now and can trace. still have to get the injector and ignition harness for it though!
so thats all good
yesterday they started doing the suspension.
the koni's look so good connected up to the cusco strut tops :D
they are quite stiffer than stock and they let me push down on the stock strut and the koni one and the koni is much harder and rebounds quicker and the stock one is quite easy to push down and it takes ages to rebound back.so looking forward to taking it for a spin through the bends once theyre in!
i might have my car back for the weekend cos if they finish the suspension today and not enough time to pull the engine apart i can have for the weekend which will be good! :D test out the new shocks and sways :)
cant wait for the engine work to start next week!

had it back for the weekend with only the koni shocks and low springs done with the cusco pillowball mounts put in the front and rear and wow what a difference it makes in handling and appearance! The car looks so much better lowered and the handling is insane. it rips around corners now. the front is so grippy that it turns and it rips the rears around the corner with them! its so much flatter and smoother and they havent even put in the heavy duty sway bars of strut bar in! nor have they done the bushes yet so i cant wait to see how much better the handling it is. having a nice camber on he fronts and rears looks so damn sexy as well!
also is it necessary to change the droplinks? if it is could someone lead me to the best place to buy them?

i took it back in the morning yesterday and went in the afternoon and i had a empty engine bay haha.
Theyve taken out the engine, gearbox, drive shafts and all that and have it sitting on the bench. Thank god im changing all the seals cos the block was quite oily so it was leaking a bit. It was weird seeing my engine out of my car but its getting exciting now!
Today they are taking it all apart and sending off the heads to get assembled, marking the vernier gear set and cleaning the block and finishing off the suspension. They are also swapping over my auto box with nvr2lows since his had done half the amount of k's mine has done. they said they will be reassembling it on thursday most likely i just hope i get it back in time for friday.
i cant wait for them to get i back together and started!
oh and all my parts have been found! Phew! the guy that put them away came back from holiday and they were exactly where he put them but no one else could find weirdly...

Will the cams change the sound the engine makes?

any other thoughts to what else i should do while its all out? like maintenance stuff as well??
and what might be the weak link tthat i should be aware of or upgrade?

I'd imagine the cams would come on aggresively

Got a question, what camber your running front and rear? Too much and your gonna eat away through tyres.

Im running:

Rear: 0

Front: -1.5

why are you running 0 on the rear? im pretty sure mine is 1.5 all round.. looks mean and also handles like nothing else! might get it reduced when they finish it..

anyways to the bad news...
I now know why my car didnt have so much power... My heads were clogged up and my bottem end is looking tired. apparently the previous owners didnt change the oil to often and used cheap and nasty oils. so yeah thats nott so good. in the market for a bottem end now to replace it in the near future. They have been taking photos for me so not sure when they will be able to put them up. I went and saw them this morning and my engine was in bits everywhere. Another issue is that one of the vernier cam gears doesnt f***in fit! and the plastic bits that hold the collets in place some of those are missing cos they have broken off... so hmm i gave em dstocks website so they can use CAPS to find out the part numbers for them. Oh and the tappets they got were for a GR engine... that engine shop they talked to mustve been so stupid. i was sus about that from the start cos ive never heard anyone get new mivec tappets. Grr
i just hope they do it by friday cos i really need a car this friday.

Im running 0 camber at the rear because of:
1. the rear is not driven and doesnt need the grip (FWD)
2. any camber not serving a specific purpose will wear away your tires
3. Less under-steer due to reduced traction
If I was to take it to the track i'd camber the rear to 0.5-1.0

hopefully they'll get their sh*t together mate. Hate to say it but i doubt they will finish by friday.

ok so...
taking longer than expected which was going to be expected...

anyways the verniers are getting sent back to rpw since the 4th one doesnt fit due to the cam angle sensor not being able to be fitted. So for now they are going to be set at stock cam timing which rpw said to do anyways. Does anyone (bennoz?) know where to get verniers for the 6a12?
after being given the stock cam specs it seems the mivec cams are much hotter and the low rpm cams have been hotted up a bit as well so we'll need those verniers!

Stock camshaft specifications are

Intake low 230 Deg @ 6.32mm
Intake High 290 Deg @ 9.55mm

Exhaust Low 240 Deg @ 6.40mm
Exhaust High 280 Deg @ 8.60mm

also they are waiting for ralliart to get them about the retainers that hold the collets in place because no where has any reference to them and no ones heard about them apart from Ralliart. im very lucky because half of them had broken off and if the collet hadve slipped sideways and gotten stuck in the valve there would be some trouble!

They're cleaning out the block and its in pretty worn condition as its getting a polished look around the cylinder and the rings are worn. Would be ideal to get a rebuild right now but i dont have the dosh! But it wont blow up on me they say.

bennoz i took pics of the ports on the new heads and old heads but cant put them on just yet cos my school doesnt allowed uploading of pics and my internet at home is rooted!
also with the tiptronics what colour should the torque converter be? on mine its silver but the one i got off nvr2low is a light blue. does the difference in colour mean anything? theyre both 4spds as well.

this car was really poorly loved by its previous owners

it really seems like RPW made us the guineau pigs for this.
