Do you have a photo of the bulbs/discs you're testing with?

Re: Custom Tailight Build
The discs have coloured leds, so will work with or without lenses. I can get just clear lenses as well. Bulbs are all white, so unless you can locate coloured ones, they will have to be under the lenses.
Have to say the discs are going to be a LOT more costly. Doesnt really matter to me because im prepared to pay for what I want, but im thinking most people will be on a budget. Bulbs are about $7 for 2 off ebay, whereas the discs are $30+ each (and youll need 8 ). I may be able to get a better deal than that for a bulk purchase or standing arrangement, but cant guarantee that im afraid.

Re: Custom Tailight Build
Oh and the other thing about the discs is that there will be a little DIY involved as they will have to be connected into the loom (im not intending to supply wiring). Will be easy and if this goes ahead, ill supply a comprehensive guide to show how its done. Bulbs will be plug and play though, so no DIY required.

Re: Custom Tailight Build
They both look good but going from the pics I would also so the disk lights look the best. But I would have to have a good look at them in real life to make my mined up.

Yeah, figured it would split down the middle somewhere. Doesnt mean you are wrong. After all, thats one of the reasons I went back and built the bulb holders back in.I like the bulbs for me don't know y that's just where I'm at

Re: Custom Tailight Build
The bulbs will be much easier to change if needed. Having said that, LEDs last a long time generally.

Re: Custom Tailight Build
The discs look fricken brilliant.
Love it.
Despite what the wife may say, I am definitely looking to get a set of these.
Meanwhile, just to nit pick a bit, the indicator needs to be slightly more orange in my opinion.
Just a bit too washed out.

Re: Custom Tailight Build
Love the discs, am definitely interested...if my finance manager doesn't approve, am willing to sleep on the couch for a week for it
+1 on the indicators for the bulb appears to be a bit washed out/yellowish. Also being super bright LED's, the reverser light (white) is washing out the red light right beside it.
Dwayne, can't each of the lights have their small socket. A small wall around the bulbs might isolate the light and not wash out/merge with the other? Just a thought.

Re: Custom Tailight Build
Hmm pending what a final looksie of the discs are, im leaning more towards the bulbs.
How much will the pattern on the discs be clear once everything is on and in? Dont really want a star (or w/e shape you wanna call it) sticking out over just the color itself (if that makes sense)
The price and fiddlyness of the discs make the bulbs seem more tempting, but again would probably have to see a final mock up of the discs to be sure these pictures are/arent doing it justice.
Very nice work though dwayne! Wouldnt mind some custom headlights next
EDIT: anyone noticed that the thumBright emote is spelled wrong? missing a 'b'

Re: Custom Tailight Build
Im not sure that I can do anything about the wash out on the indicator. Remember the bulbs are all white. If you can manage to source coloured ones it would be better (although I havent managed to find any yet). The discs are coloured already, so you wont get the washout. Also remember that the reverse light and indicator will only be on if reversing/turning, so 95% of the time its a non issue. I have got an extra filter I can use in the lenses (came with them). Ill have to see if thatll fit and check that effect as well. Will post up pics.
Not really. The discs only just fit under the housing as it is, so if I do that for the bulbs, the discs wont fit.Dwayne, can't each of the lights have their small socket. A small wall around the bulbs might isolate the light and not wash out/merge with the other? Just a thought.
What did you have in mind. I could replace the black bit inside the lights I guess. That would be really cheap to make. Would have to know what you are thinking first thoughWouldnt mind some custom headlights next

Re: Custom Tailight Build
I really like the look of the lancer lights, but I guess the shape of the headlight makes it difficult/impossible to replicate. I'll have to post a pic of what I'm thinking of when I get home.

Dwayne,
Great job mate. It's looking great!
Vote goes for the bulbs though.
