Reception is good but distance is not at the moment (500m) but I have other ideas to try.Shenal wrote:Looks awesome man

When I tested arial placement during installation I had great reception and distance (5km), although the amps were turned off. I have wired the amps switching wire and the CB power to accessories power, so ignition key on = amps on and CB on. I believe the amps are killing my CB distance. I need to get back in there and wire the amps switching to the head unit so I can shut them down by turning off the head unit and then see if CB distance improves. If not then I am thinking about buying a short arial and installing it in the unused rear windscreen wiper hole in the rear luggage tray, I don't have a rear wiper. Will keep you posted.
I know.....it never looks pretty behind the scene

Re: PHIL069's 95 FTO GPX
That's rather interesting way of doing it.
I managed to score a magnetic base unit with 5 meter cable and 1.5 meter mast from work.
simply screws in to the antenna jack on the unit and whack the base where-ever on the car. (less permanent solution.)

Re: PHIL069's 95 FTO GPX
Today I had a run on TAFE's Dyno with my FTO. The Dyno is meant for heavy vehicles and isn't very accurate, but I gave it a go anyway.
I got 99kW, 4th gear 6500rpm.
I also hit 205km/h with the Dyno free rolling, it wasn't full speed, it was 5th gear 6000 rpm.
The video was taken with mobile phones but it has been edited in HD quality, so you can go to full screen and change quality to 1080p
Man it was fun
TURN UP YOUR VOLUME!

That'd be the oil smoke from a 15 year old motor at high rpm

Re: PHIL069's 95 FTO GPX
I suppose that's an age thing? I could almost take that out of the factory.Astron_Boy wrote:99kws is about right, so, yeah.

Re: PHIL069's 95 FTO GPX
Well, people often forget when they put their car on a dyno, that you have the loss of the gearbox as a factor.
So, 147kw @ the motor in factory spec with a 'rough' loss of around 20% (by no means an accurate measure) and it's a close figure.
Take in to account age of the motor and any modifications, conditions of the weather on the day, etc.
And 99kws is the rough number you get.
Last Dyno day I attended with a group of FTOs present they were all spitting out numbers pretty close to that with Aza as the exception.
