I have re-srayed a few cars, and will be doing my mates in the coming weeks.. I hate having to colour match, but with his it will be a full re-spray ...

If I'm ever in SA or your ever in NSW and we have a spare week, let me know... :)

did you respray your evo3 yourself?

Nah, didn't have time ...

The Evo was stripped back to bare metal, and needed some time getting previous body repairs pulled apart and getting fixed properly ... So, as I didn't have the time or the tools, I had to give it to someone else ... They did the whole process in 4 weeks ... Would have taken me 3 times as long...

I use to work as an apprentice spray painter.. Then when I left (did not do an actual apprenticeship) I resprayed my Corolla ... Did repairs and paint on my Parents car when my brother decided to put it through a fence, and then just general spray jobs on mine and mates cars that were just our daily drivers or little project cars....

I was a little scared to do the Evo as I knew it was a big job, and has been some time since I have had a spray gun in my hands...

Is there much to spray painting? I've got a nice big air compressor in the garage and have the spray painting attachment for it. Is there anything else required?

Sorry for being off-topic

Your basic paints/colours are pretty easy ...

Never done a pearl paint or anything tricky like that... You really need to make sure you prep the car... That is the difference... Technique is what helps you out too ...

But other then that, it aint too hard...

thanks man. but what i do wanna do is save up instead of spending a bit to colour match the white panels, and get the whole car resprayed with a different paint job. its gunna be a pain in the arse to do for whoever i take it too, but it'l look SOOOOOO sweet. :thumleft:

No probs... A good respray (no mates rates places) on an fto would be close to 5k... At a rough guess....

But, prices could be cheaper in SA ... NSW charge an arm and a leg for everything .. That is why I took my car down the south coast... About an hour and a half drive out of Sydney .. To one of the best spray places on the south coast...

lol .. Chat with some of the SA members here ... They may know a few places already that have a good rep ... That is why I chose my place... The guy that sprayed the car, had his own shop .. He did some crazy looking custom cars, but ran out of business before word of his good work could spread...

So he now works for a normal smash repairer... But yeah, he did my car for me ...
