Good luck mate, I wasn't thinking anywhere near 10K just stretching it by a couple of hundred but after thinking about this a bit more I don't think it will suit my intended application because I will already be over-running the supercharger for more boost so I don't want even higher rpm.

Like I said earlier I highly doubt stock internals could handle 10K.
But 8500rpm is not far off stock redline, and I would expect Mitsubishi has built in a little tolerance, so I'm expecting 8500rpm will be fine. My only concern is that there may be a lip on the cylinder wall due to the engine only ever being revved to 8200, which could cause ring failure if the rods stretch enough under the additional load for this to be a problem. My engine has done 160K kms lol!
Luckily I have a spare in the garage ready to go in though
My car has been redlining at 8500rpm for some time now ( ever since the engine was re done after the bad fuel ) and I have had no problems at all

.

What are you using to adjust your revcut? Didn't know the Haltech could do that?

It's just been like that since the heads where serviced, and the port and polish done. It just reeves higher

That's very strange, the rev cut is built into the ecu. I can't see how head work would change this?
Still, you're not complaining

Well I can as I want more

.
It's got me stumped

.
Unless something was changed some how when the haltech went in

.
I'm at a loss.

10,000 RPM, It's possible
If you want, PM ya Email. Send you this Hot4's article that might be a interest to you
180HP at the front wheel!

Yep I reckon 10000rpm would def be possible, but it would require a bit more work than just increasing the rev cut. First port of call would be a full engine blueprint and a bit of a clean up / clearancing of bottom end internals. Second look at rods and rod bolts. Then cam specs to determine if they'd still work to 10K, and of course rocker & valve springs.
Other than air, fuel and tune, you might just get away with it with only the above. Our engines are already a relatively high revving engine, and quite well engineered from what I've read.

Having issues posting pics

working on it.
You pretty much mention the basic layout
Mivec may have to go, replace standard cams with a well calculated designed group A racing cam, 100Ron fuel, using MoTec M4.
Article from 97. Technology sure has advanced of course.
Claimed to have won many group A races in it's class.
Produced 11.8.1 compression, around 235HP @ the flywheel.

It was me that cracked the FTO ECU rom for Richard B (UK), he sent me his rom and I now have a good xml for that varient.
Probably any FTO post 1998 will be tunable.
Some of the items identified include:
Hi and Lo Octane Fuel maps
Closed Loop Temp
Closed Loop Throttle table
Closed Loop Load table
Limp Home Fault map
Injector Latency table
Cranking IPW table
Hi and Lo Octane Spark maps
Spark Water Temp trim table
Spark Air Temp Trim table
Spark Warmup Retard map
Ignition Coil tables
VE maps
MUT table
Rev Cut
Speed Cut
Target Idle v Temp tables
Thermo Fan tables
and a bunch of other stuff nobody is likley to need altered. About a weeks work all-up.
I had not got arround to posting any news due to login issues.
However, if you are interested in getting some tweaks, let me know.

As for raising the rev limit - I don't know enough to comment really but not sure why anyone would want to do this as power and torque are normally dropping by about 7500rpm aren't they?

I know,
But doesn't it just make you sound more baddass if you can rev almost
As much as a rotary!

Serious street cred is achieved my redlining at 10 000rpm...
:fail:
It won't last with stock internals. You'll need to upgrade to titanium this and that, etc to withstand 10k rpm.
As for power, you'll need custom cam profile to push & increase high end power at 10k rpm.
Will cost you shitloads as everything is custom. No aftermarket shelf products for us.
If you want high revs, better get s2k with f20c go VTEC YO!!!!! YO!!!!! and put in some spoon & forks then you'll get 11k rpms goodness.
Titanium? There are cars out there with much higher piston speeds that the FTO. You can say if a car revs higher than the other it will be better as it could have a longer stroke.

Dave, you wouldn't happen to know the values that closed loop kicks in and out on would you?
I'm assuming there will be throttle, MAP & rpm values?
Cheers.

Apologies for non-response, I lost my password etc and have just now managed to get back into the FTO forum.
So yes, send queries regarding flashing the stock ECU.
As indicated previously, 98 and later should be no problem, earlier units are likely to be eprom types and I dont want to go there.

So if one was to get a later model ecu and put it in it would be able to be programmed i guess?

I believe so yes, something about the ecu's with the plastic casing though, not sure if it's just facelifts or also after a certain date (mine's a facelift and don't think it's got plastic casing) unless i've missunderstood this bit.
Only thing is i'm not sure how feasible the whole thing is for us with the guy being in the UK.
