I did read somewhere that the 96' vr came in 4spd and in 97 they all became 5spd.

This whole thing has led me to want a manual gearbox.

After that a custom y pipe, ecu and tune would be sweet as.
All vRs are 97 onwards...

Does it have electronic climate control and or folding mirrors?
manual thermostat he means manual A/C, ie no climate.
Having said that, lately I've seen quite a few cars with manual climate, and they were neither 4spds or pre-FCs. AGAIN, nothing to stop peeps from modding.
SAHIN has facelift with red seats, his mods...

Check the chassis code on Dwaynes site, see what you actually 'should' have.

Fair enough on that one, it's not typically referred as thermostat, but I knew what he was getting at.

Talking about making an effort for a replica.
The COTY replica that was on here a while ago! People do, do it!

EDIT: hang on, this is your car Hero, http://ftoaustralia.com/v3/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=26724
It's not a vR.
Dwayne wanted a vR in that color, they don't exist.
White, red, black from memory.

If replicating a vR wouldnt you keep the good bits of the base model (climate control, mirrors) and have the good bits from the vR too?

Porque no los dos!

Edit: Actually true, that kinda defeats the purpose of a "replica" slightly.

As per your edit. Replica 'used' to mean it looks identical, but wasn't actually. Replica these days can mean looks identical, but has niceties.

Only 300 of those were ever made... they were tuned by a guy called Akihiko Nakaya. Very rare car! I dare say it would be one of if not the only one in Australia.

So, to go back on topic.
Regardless of whether it actually is a Nakaya, I wouldn't be modding that car.
It is your car, but you have a very rare combo.
Means BS to most, but it may hold something in the future.

What are the actual differences but?

The only mods so far are handling mods. The chassis number is what I'm going off from comparing on that site you gave.

Plus, the tranny atm needs a reco cos it's getting lumpy (some douche used the wrong oil temporarily)
So i thought i may as well manual it?

Differences are that it came standard with a Nakaya Tune front lip (assuming its now gone?), upgraded brake pads, Ohlins shock absorbers/slightly different suspension and a different sports muffler.

Edit: and I think a different ECU tuning?
