I finally got around to installing windows and installing the amp and wiring the whole thing up. I had it all working on the weekend, but i have a a lot of background noise (high pitch alternator whine). So i am waiting on my External USB soundcard to arrive so i can get rid of this noise.
But until then im going to tidy up the install and remount the screen a bit nicer, here is some shots of the install so far. You can see in the 2nd and 3rd shots where i mounted the motherboard, into the DIN slots

Good, I have been using it for a couple weeks with win98, I amworking on my own version of windows xp embedded though which will replace it soon.
I got the touch screen as part of a kiosk machine from the states

Damn I ended up blowing anothjer motherboard, and same way i blew the last one, it was caused by me working on my system, i nthe early hours of the morning when its pitch dark, and I plugged in a 2.5 hdd, 2 pins down the connector, which ended up blowing the hdd controller again :(
So I pulled everything out and put my head unit in temporary, cause im starting the project again from scratch.
This weekend I am buying a new computer to install, P3 1ghz. Then I am going to work on Windows XP Embedded some more and get it working and booting quickly on the machine. Then when I am happy with the machine Ill order a new LCD screen (the 10" one is only compatible with my last motherboard [lvds]). Ill proberbly go with a xenarc, cause I dont want to cut any corners this time, and buy quality parts all the way.
Then Ill Install it, estimated time to get the new system installed is around a month.
Ill post pics and news as I go

Windows Xp Embedded, allows you to make your own windows xp image, by using compentnts you can make xp images as little as 10mb's
though a standard build would be around 150mb
there is a trial at http://msdn.microsoft.com/embedded/wind ... fault.aspx

can you then include GPS, and your car security module (eg if you have modules for windows engine start etc, change the setting for these modules in you windows?)>

A HP Mini ITX E-pc (this is HP's Small Form Factor PC)
*Intel P3 1Ghz Processor
*256mb Ram
*Windows XP Lite (Boots very very quick) Modified with XPE Minlogon (makes it boot quicker), and MS Bootprep (for quicker booting times again)
*24x Cdrom
*Lilliput 2005 7" XGA Touch screen

I have Installed it Temporarily, and am going to slowly integrate it in to the FTO Dash to go for a Factory Look. But at the moment it looks a little dodge
